The Story:
Last year TUNA received a grant that allowed us to bring nine kids who otherwise might not experience Nordic skiing into our Devo program. These kids received a ride to practice in the TUNA van, clothing to stay warm, snacks, enthusiastic coaches, and support. There’s no question they made the most out of the opportunity.
The grant has ended, but the kids want to come back. TUNA has committed to furthering the experience for this group. This is where we need some help!
So many of our membership generously donates to TUNA every year, but here’s your chance to earmark your donation for a kid — a single smiling face who will enjoy:
Devo Team – two lessons per week for the nine weeks
Rental boots, skis, poles
Transportation to and from Mountain Dell with a qualified driver and TUNA vehicle
Snacks
Clothing appropriate for Nordic skiing
Camaraderie and fun learning a healthy lifestyle activity with friends, new and old
When we lost this grant, the TUNA Board said, “we can do this anyway…how can we not?”
Help us support this program while we seek more funding. Any amount you can donate will help a kid get to snow this winter. We live for snow, and these kids want to be out there enjoying it with us! Equity is not an idea, though, it is an effort.
