The Story of the Wasatch Citizens Series
More than forty years ago, a handful of skiers gathered in the Wasatch Mountains with one simple goal: to share their love of cross-country skiing. They weren’t chasing glory or gold medals—they just wanted to ski together, test their fitness, and enjoy the winter trails. That humble gathering became the very first Wasatch Citizens Series (WCS) race.
Since then, the WCS has grown into Utah’s premier citizen ski series, attracting hundreds of racers each season. But at its heart, it has never lost the spirit of those early days: a friendly, welcoming community where everyone—from first-time skiers to seasoned masters—can come together, clip into their skis, and be part of the fun.
A Race for Everyone
The WCS is designed to be accessible for all ages and abilities:
Kids’ races kick off each event, with divisions starting as young as under 8 (U8).
Adults follow soon after, with open and master’s age groups.
Whether you’re racing for the podium or just want a great ski with friends, there’s a place for you here.
More Than Just Racing
For many, the WCS is more than a competition—it’s a tradition. Families come year after year. Friends reconnect at bib pickup. Volunteers cheer just as loudly for the last skier as they do for the first. And the post-race stories told over hot chocolate and lunch are as much a part of the series as the races themselves.
