Monday Haiku:
Winter Spring returns,
Wax up and ski while it’s here,
Feel the trail Joy
It is going to be a beautiful, warm nordic ski day on our ~10km of open trails! Starting out at 18F this morning with sunshine and warming through the day. We groomed the 3k “Community Loop”, the 5km loop and Armstrong late last night. The crew did not reset the classic track due to snow depth. The classic tracks are quite good with a few obvious gaps. The classic may be a bit icy early in places where the sun hit it hard yesterday but will soften up mid morning. Skate is locked in very good shape this morning with a soft crumble on the firm track. There are a few thin spots out there so ski with awareness and avoid the grassy spots.
It’s another blue/purple wax, SPF 50, fresh groomed day at White Pine Touring. Skiing might become quite soft by late afternoon today. Please stay off the golf course and other trails unless you’re on skis. Help us remind walkers and dog walkers that there are great options nearby like Round Valley, Basin Rec and Willow Creek rather than tracking through the fresh grooming. The Farm Trail and Dog Loop remain CLOSED. Red beanies are recommended and be cautious, it is icy out on the sidewalks and pathways.
The shop and trails are OPEN 9-5 today offering lessons, trail passes, gear sales, waxing service, rental skis and snowshoes. Drop off your skis for a spa treatment after you wrap up for the day. Join us for interpretive snow dances, offerings to Ullr, and happy snow bunnies at the end of the day.
Please do not walk, cycle or run on the Nordic Trails. Please do not walk your dogs and let them poop on the nordic trails. We work very hard to provide a quality ski experience for our paying customers and walking yourself and your dogs on the trails could be considered trespassing and violates municipal code. Round Valley, Willow Creek and Basin trails all offer exceptional options for taking your dog, yourself or your bicycle out.
