Main, Mitten, Lollipop Top and Kid’s Cut-Off groomed for skate only Monday evening. Current conditions (water, slush, ice, grass) in many areas would not allow a reset of the classic without the potential of doing damage to the golf course. Surprisingly, good sections of classic still exist from the weekend crews. Aspect dependent. The snow that does exist is dirty and variable, but reasonable skiing should be had Tuesday before temperatures once again climb. My guess for best skiing is somewhere between 10:00a-12:00p. Outside this window expect to find ice, snow, slush, water and grass. Additional caution is warranted in these conditions and definitely time to leave the race skis in the stable. Still, a good day for a brief slide in glorious Wasatch sunshine. Enjoy!

Track Conditions
The lower track has been groomed for skate and a classic lane has been reset. The upper track is groomed for skate and in good shape. Classic lane is set up for some excellent skiing. With added snow the past few days, coverage is great on all trails. Warming temperatures will allow for softer conditions but excellent skiing. Have a great day!!
Solitude Nordic
No grooming today but skating should be great and classic tracks are still set. Cold now but warming into the 30’s by late morning.
Mountain Dell
Groomed at 6:30 am this morning (Monday Feb 28). 20 degrees F.
Groomed for Skate: Main, Mitten, Lollitop and Kids Cutoff. All others are closed.
Skate conditions are good. Classic tracks were not groomed. They are thin and icy with a few bare spots. Still skiable.

For those considering skating to the top, I went there late yesterday. Above the first switchback, the skate deck is firm, with a soft yet crunchy surface. It seemed reasonably fast, even with not being groomed. It was in better shape than many days where snowmobiles damage it right after our groom. You’ll have last night’s groom to the first switchback and then “rustic” 65 conditions above it. Very nice outing.
White Pine
Another blue sky, blue wax morning. SPF50+ is the recommendation. All trails smoothed out and open. Classic skiing should be pretty good until afternoon, skating as well. Significant warming this afternoon will lead to some troublesome icy and soft spots later. Best skiing will be between 10 am and 2 pm. All bets are off after that as temps are expected to be near 40 degrees F. Winter transitions into spring once again..
Stay safe, please mask up indoors still to help us stay healthy and open for you. Boots and skis are starting to get skinnier on the walls, if you’re looking to upgrade your gear, don’t wait too long.

A quick refresh on skate and classic Sunday night from the gate to the first switchback. Classic for the first mile is poor to fair, and then gets better. Skate is OK from the gate to the first switchback. Tonight’s groom was mostly to test a new classic setter. It did not impress. Last call? Seems likely, with high temperatures in the 50s Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Get it Monday!

A quick refresh and track is ready for another crisp bluebird Sunday.

Absolutely beautiful blue sky morning. Cold conditions early, warming later. SPF 50+ and blue wax. Conditions on the trails have been the best in weeks so come and enjoy. Thank you everyone for supporting the WCS Farm race yesterday and cheering on the US Mens Nordic Combined team. All trails groomed and open with packed powder over a firm base. Enjoy winter while it’s back because it looks like it’s gong to get warm again. We’ll be busy and we’ll run out of classic rentals again today. Please be patient and wear your mask while indoors. Stay safe and have fun!
Solitude Nordic

Deer Hollow Winter Recreation Area
On Thursday, Feb. 24, after a long awaited winter storm, CMNSC volunteers Topher and Steve, along with Jess from the USFS, used the State Parks snowcat to groom through 24-30” of fresh powder and set corduroy and classic tracks on all of the ski trails (except for the ungroomed West Trail Complex) at Deer Hollow. Enjoy!
Solitude Nordic
Everything other than Bypass and Evergreen’s Loop groomed this morning for skate and classic. Cold snow, so blue or green wax recommended.
Mountain Dell
The recent snow fall went a long to way to revive the track, and assure great skiing through the weekend. Main, Mitten, Kids loop, Boomerang and the Loli-pop candy were groomed for skate and classic yielding nice results with exception of a few icy sections and some thin grassy spots eager to get back to golf. Enjoy your weekend skiing!
Millcreek
Groomed and set track late this evening on the 25th. Should be great skiing conditions tomorrow morning
