White Pine

It’s looking and feeling like Winter! Another very crispy cold day today. Bundle up with a buff and your good gloves! Weather is showing snow arriving again mid-day and late day with some higher winds. Bundle up and layer for the weather. New mittens have been quite popular in the shop this week. Classic and skating will be adventurous when the snow comes. We received about 4 inches of new snow with some wind drifts in places. Skiing will be slow today with the track soft and the fresh snow. Skating will be good but soft and slow. Classic should be quite good all day. Come share the Joy of skiing in fresh snow! Colder temperatures mean higher performance blue wax and even blue powder should be running well. We are open 9-5 daily. Please continue to be careful and ski within your abilities. Ski with awareness through the day and into the afternoon and keep an eye on the weather. We have 12km of skiing groomed this morning. We’ve started some trails prep work on the farm, but please stay off until it’s posted open. Please ride the bus, micro transit, carpool, skateboard, cycle, e-bike or walk if you can. Parking is available all around the hotel and underground but everything you can do to reduce single driver trips helps! We’ve groomed the 3k, 5k and Armstrong. The dog loop is ok-ish. It is frozen in the lower part. We’ll be taking a look at the farm to plot out a shortened loop after this storm cycle and for the WCS Classic citizens race on Saturday. Summer uses created quite a few water challenges we are working around. Most of the swampy areas have finally frozen and are getting covered in snow. Wax cards and all of the waxes from basic to super fast are in the shop. Come play in the new snow, share the Joy and enjoy the day!

The Wasatch Citizens Series classic technique race at the Farm scheduled for Saturday January 6th will take place on Saturday January 13th. Registration is online at utahnordic.org Parking and bib pick up will be at St. Mary’s Church beginning at 8:30am. Please carpool as much as possible and park responsibly. This and all WCS races have banned fluorinated (HF and LF) waxes. Stay tuned for trail information. Start times begin at 10:00am with kids. Adult Interval starts begin at 10:20am.

We still have a couple of spots in our Mens Beginner Skate Clinic. Every Sunday in January 12:30 pm to 2:00pm! Call us to register!

Great News Skiers! Bandanas Cafe across the hall from us is now open until 8pm daily for your after-ski beverages, pizza and pasta. Now you can ski until sundown and then have a warm relaxing place to eat and drink while you’re waiting for traffic on the highway to thin out!
