The countdown is on. Six more days to go. 126/131 days on snow so far for the season.
Another beautiful, warm spring morning to welcome our 126th day on snowy trails this season! Cold overnight with sun and significant warming through mid-day when the cold front is expected to arrive. The enigma of spring skiing weather. Everything all at once. Crust skiing will be very good this morning, skating early will be firm and fast with firm but pretty good classic track in place on the 3k. Fast and spicy/icy early skiing. It will be cloudy a later as we get ready for the weekend snow. Come out and show your support for locally owned and operated cross country skiing. 3k, 5k and Armstrong are groomed and shallow partial track set today. We’ll update if we get out to the farm, but no heavy grooming with the weather how it is. Everything is still open, but pay attention while you’re skiing. Skating later in the day will be slow and potentially sticky unless your skis are well waxed and structured. We are fighting the sun, the spring breezes and the Gobi desert dust from last month to keep the 5k open. There are icy/thin spots lurking in exposed areas, near the ponds and under the trees especially on the 5km. A short walk near the cottages will get you to really nice skiing on the far reaches of the 5k. Ski with awareness and some caution near those. Skating and Classic skiing will be pretty good for April and you should find a sweet little window of fun. Great ski time will be from 10:00-1:00 today. No enigma for waxing today. Red/Blue or violet wax and structure. Please be aware of changing conditions, bare patches forming. Please be mindful and ski within your abilities. Come play outside then slide into the shop to say hello and check out our ski wall. Wrap your hands around a great deal on gear and clothing at our annual clearance sale. Have a joy-filled ski day, show off those hard earned ski muscles and keep an eye out for our demo snowcats.
