April weather? The snow bunnies are definitely in beach bunny mode this week.
Continued extremely warm day and night temperatures mean we have suspended grooming again today. All trail surfaces are smooth and soft on top this morning. There are a few icy patches developing in low areas from the melting surface. There are some areas that are getting thin so ski with care and awareness. We will groom as soon as we see some colder temperatures. and we may be back to shoveling some areas soon to maintain full continuity. All 22km of trails remain open for skiing today with shallow classic and skate tracks.
Classic skiing will be good with well waxed skin skis or fish scales. Skating will be good if you’re well waxed and have some wet structure on your skis. You’ll glide best with red/yellow wax. Grip wax will be very difficult today, classic skin skis will grip and glide best. The dog loop is open and running happily through the fields. The Farm is in great shape and is a fee area for skiing. No walking, dogs, running, cycling, driving or trespassing on the trails. A good universal liquid or paste wax on your fish scale classic skis (tip to tail) is always a great way to keep them from sticking as the snow changes during the day.
If you need to take a physical and/or mental therapy break we’re here for you every day. Drop off your skis when you’re done skiing for the day for an refreshing hot wax massage. Please purchase AND display your trail pass to access our trails. Ski with Joy, share the trails, ski safe and be kind. Thank you for being part of our amazing family and reading long trail reports. Grab your gear, snug up your laces and come play outside in the spring weather! Get it while it lasts!
Today is a great day for classic skiing with the continuing warm temperatures and soft surface. If you are skating please ride a flat ski and if you cutting in deeply PLEASE switch to classic gear. We are in snow maintenance mode for a few days to preserve the best of our trails until it cools down again. Ski smart and save the trails! ~
