The Wasatch Citizens Series distance skate race scheduled for Saturday at the Farm is canceled. We did not receive enough new snow to create a safe and sustainable trail on the Farm. Your season race pass or four completed race beanies will be available Saturday morning at 10am at the St. Mary’s Church Social Hall. We’ll have medals and a MEGA prize drawing for those who show up. Also we’ll have some pastries and we can hang out and commiserate for a while. We tried our best to try to make a suitable course, but everything depended on the snowfall on the warm wet ground. Bring a warm beverage of your choice and we can socialize for a while.
We strongly recommend stopping in the shop BEFORE you head out on the trails when we have these extreme Spring conditions. If you head out and assume you know the conditions, you could be quite surprised. We want you to have a great ski experience every day and we’re doing our best every day to try to make it happen. Everyone ski safe and aware!
“A Tale of Two Winters” It was the best of times, it was the worst of times as we get whipsawed between winter and spring several times each week since November. We received 5 inches of wet snow overnight! We are grooming and track setting the 3km and Armstrong loops. We’ll roll the 5km trail and check our options to see if we can reopen it. There were significant wet and grassy patches on the 5km before the storm. Skiing will be a bit slow this morning but firming up over the day. The surface with the fresh groom will be creamy and soft this morning We did have some icy patches and slushy areas under the new snow so keep your eyes open and look forward. It will be another great day for snowshoeing if the skiing isn’t speaking to you and you still need to get outside. We’ll lay out some fresh corduroy on the surface and have the tracks in shape for you. Please check in or check the report later for any updates. The Dog Loop, 5k and Farm are CLOSED and not recommended for skiing until we change their status. Keep an eye out for the low bush, grassy and icy or wet patches lurking under the surface out there. Skiing should be best from about 9 until 5 today. Wax will be red for skate and classic today. Well waxed fish scales or skin skis for classic would be a great option. Be aware of icy patches near the trail, in the parking lot and walkways. Walk with care in your ski boots and use the handrail on the stairs. Please no walking, dogs, running, cycling, driving or trespassing on the trails. As you need to take a physical and/or mental therapy getaway or a much needed break from the news cycle we’re here for you every day. It will be a great afternoon to drop off your skis for a wax massage and aromatherapy treatment so they’ll be ready for weeks of spring skiing. Spread Joy out on the trail, breathe some fresh air, rejoice in the fresh snow, be safe and be kind. Thank you for being part of our incredible ski community and reading so patiently into our Dickensian long-form trail report. Looking forward to some really good spring conditions in the next few days! Maybe the snow bunnies will come back out. Drop in the store to say hi, shop the sale and visit for a few minutes. Everyone be safe.
