White Pine

If it’s time for your summer storage wax, bring in your skis today. We’ll put some good wax on your bases for summer protection and scrape them for free when we reopen in November. Last chance to drop them off is this afternoon!

The melt cycle is in full swing. We’ll have warming temperatures through the day and have another afternoon above 60 degrees again. Crusty and very icy conditions early then turning to mashed potato by mid-day. We are not grooming today in order to preserve the snow that is remaining and protect the grass below. The 3km trail has several areas where route finding and grass walking are required. There are some pretty good out and back options for the 3k and Armstrong that avoid most of the non-continuous sections. Where it is good it is very good, but the trail has several gaps that are not skiable now. Best skiing will be from about 10:30 until 1. It will get quite sloppy out and skating will leave deep ruts and risk damaging your skis. We recommend classic skiing late in the day. If you see grass, pavement or mud in front of you, it is not fake news. Please slow down and work your way safely around.
Skiing will be icy, crunchy and firm early, but quickly transforming into tropical slurpee consistency. The 3km and Armstrong trails will be open today. There are icy patches, grassy patches, running water, exposed pavement and wet areas lurking under snow and along the trail so keep your eyes open, stay alert and ski safely. Wax will be red/yellow with aggressive wet structure for both kick and glide. Polishing, spraying, dripping and ironing some fresh wax on the tips and tails of your equipment will definitely help bring more Joy to your gliding experience. Walk with care in your ski boots and use the handrail on the stairs.
We continue to offer our “go outside to play” services daily through tomorrow. You have until this afternoon to drop off your skis for a hot wax spa session to keep you gliding or an enriching storage wax if you’re done for the season. Grab your SPF30+, your sunglasses, your beachwear for the tropical heat wave, keep an eye out basking bunnies and ducks, ski safe and be kind. Thank you for being part of our incredible community center and for coming out to play with us during this wacky “spring skiing all winter” season. Drop in the store to say hello, shop the sale and visit for a bit before we close tomorrow. Everyone ski safe and grab some winter-ish fun while you can!

It had to happen eventually… We will be closing for the season at 5:00pm on Thursday March 27th. It’s been a crazy season for weather, but we’ve managed to stay open for skiing all but two days since December 2nd. That’s 113 of 115 days if you’re counting. We’d like to thank each and every one of you who visited us this season. We have the best customers, friends and neighbors in our ski community and you are all truly the best part of the work for our nearly 50 Nordic Center employees. We spend the winter as a big family helping you learn new skills, taking care of your skis and providing you with some incredible ski trails. Thank you for spending the winter with us and we’ll plan on being back and seeing you on November 22nd for the start of the 25-26 Winter Season!
