Tuesday Haiku:
In the 5k case,
As Elsa sang, “Let it Go”
Tragic, thin, it’s gone
Continued warm, dry Spring conditions, trails will be very firm and cold most of the day with a nice fresh skate surface on the 3k “Community Loop.” Be friendly out there and please no walking, littering or dogs on the trails. Cold nights are helping keep the snow around and warm afternoon temperatures remain. Blue or purple wax today with SPF 50+ for skate and classic. The 3km loop remains a cold loop wrapped in snow and OPEN with good coverage due to the heroic community shoveling efforts. We groomed a skate lane refresh on the 3km “Community Loop” and Armstrong access last night. Classic tracks are diminished with not enough snow depth to reset.
The 5km Loop is CLOSED.
The 5km will not be regroomed or reopened until we get more snow. Skiing on the 3k will be good all day today. The Armstrong access is packed and OPEN to the field but thin and not recommended beyond that. Ski with focus and caution on the firm trails. There are unmarked hazards and the afternoon sun will start to deteriorate exposed parts of the track a bit. The Farm and Dog Loop ski trails remain closed.
We are OPEN 9-5 today offering lessons, rentals of skis and snowshoes. Drop in the shop, check out the new gear, purchase your trail pass and ski today! Snow dances, offerings to the snow deities and yoga this evening at sunset. It will be a lovely sunny day for skiing, wrap up early, peel off layers as needed and go play outside! Ski now while we have it, the next storm will arrive in the future…
A HUGE THANK YOU to our groomer and ski community volunteer shoveling teams who’ve spent hours out on the trails keeping your skiing possible. It’s difficult work and they give their all to make the trails as great as conditions allow. We have the best community of supporters and staff around.
