If wishes were horses, beggars would ride. Monday night grooming consisted of putting down a fresh skate deck on Main, Mitten, Lollipop, Boomerang and Park By-Pass. Classic was reset on most of the Main loop and Boomerang. The snow pack on the remainder of the course is too thin to set classic without damaging equipment and/or the golf course, so no other classic was reset unfortunately. Snow conditions remain tricky for grooming and skiing. Think kick waxing for zero type of tricky. Speaking of thin, coverage remains quite thin on all open portions of the track and rock/grass skis are recommended until further notice. Please ski with caution. Considerable portions of the track have a very uneven surface, due primarily to the massive efforts of Groom Chief Chris Magerl and his crew of snow moving wizards who harvested tons of snow yesterday from adjacent track areas to the track in the hopes of keeping the track alive until the next natural event. The upside of the unevenness is the ability to keep the track going. Without the snow moving efforts, the track would be on borrowed time. Much of last night’s efforts were spent attempting to level the track and the leveling will continue in days to come, so flatter and flatter track should result. Lower, Creek and Wiggle Room remain closed until additional snowfall warrant their safe opening. Despite the challenges, Mtn. Dell is OPEN and completely skiable. Early season conditions persist, but don’t let that stop you from coming up and getting your slide on. Continue to do your best snow dances. Cheers!
