SNOW!!! Happy Valentine’s Day!
There was a lot of wind with the storm yesterday so depths range from 6-18 inches depending on where you’re standing. We are packing and rolling the 3km trail this morning after packing the 3k and Armstrong last night during the storm. Conditions will be soft, but skiing should be creamy and quite good during the day. We will pack the 5km today but PLEASE DO NOT SKI ON THE 5K today. We are letting it settle and firm up so we can get it open tomorrow. If you ski on it it will not help us get permission from PC officials to reopen the trail. We packed the dog loop last night so it should be fairly good under the new snow. We’ll take a look at the Farm late today or tomorrow and assess where we are. Conditions were quite thin prior to this storm. Patience to allow the trails to firm up will be rewarded.
Temperatures will be near or above freezing all day mean that it will be blue/violet for kick and definitely blue/violet/red wax for glide. Skiing will be a bit soft and sticky if your skis are not waxed well. The surface will be firming through the day as some of the moisture dissipates and the snowfall slows. Please pay attention to where you are going out there. Be aware of icy patches under the snow and walk with care in your ski boots. We are working together with Park City to make your community resource as wonderful as we can year-round. The store and service shop are OPEN! We can wax your skis and upgrade your gear as needed. No walking, dogs, running, cycling, driving or trespassing on the trails. If you need to take a physical and/or mental therapy break we’re here for you every day. It is a great day to drop off your skis for a relaxing spa treatment after your spin on the trail. Pull on your good gloves, layer for the temperatures, enjoy a steamy cup before you head out. Seek your Valentine Joy outdoors, glide into the curves and cruise the landscape, be safe and be kind. Thank you for being part of our amazing ski community and reading another lengthy and somewhat snowy trail report. Grab your warm gloves, your beanie, go for a ski and then drop in the store to say hi. All nordic poles, high performance waxes and kids clothes in the shop are on sale now! See you on the trail!
We have another Toko Wax clinic TODAY at 3:30 at the Nordic Center. Come and learn how to take care of those skis and keep them gliding. $10 fee to attend. We’ll be giving away a pair of poles after the clinic and all waxes and waxing accessories will be on sale after the clinic. Gift yourself some glide for Valentines day!
