Thank you for helping make the Wasatch Citizens Series possible! Every race depends on volunteers — from course setup to finish line timing — and we couldn’t do it without you.
Can I race and volunteer?
Yes! Many volunteers do both. Positions like course setup and teardown, registration, or raffle help are great options if you plan to race. These roles wrap up before the start or resume after you finish skiing.
Just avoid signing up for start line or finish line crew — those need to stay on station during the race.
This is my first season volunteering — where and how should I sign up?
Welcome! You can sign up using this sign up genius link:
https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0C4CABAD2DA7FAC61-59811620-wcsrace
You can sign up for any crew or helper position — each role is simple to learn and has clear instructions. We’ll show you what to do when you arrive.
If your first role doesn’t feel like the perfect fit, that’s fine — there are lots of ways to help. Let us know, and we can match you with another position for the next race.
When should I arrive?
Most crew members should plan to arrive around 8:00 a.m. unless otherwise noted.
Some volunteer positions have specific times listed in parentheses on the sign-up sheet — those indicate when the job starts. Please arrive about 15 minutes early to get oriented and ready to roll.
Where do I go when I arrive?
Head to the registration table or ask around for Jen Zurick — she’ll get you connected with your crew lead and set you up with your assignment.
What should I wear or bring?
Dress warmly and in layers — it is winter, and you may be standing for stretches of time. Insulated boots are ideal for snow-packed areas. Bring a thermos, snacks, and a smile — good attitudes are as essential as good mittens!
Where should I park?
Parking details vary by venue. Each race’s Volunteer Information Email (sent a few days before the event) includes the latest info on where to park and whether a shuttle is running.
Do volunteers get anything for helping?
Absolutely! You’ll receive a raffle entry for each day you volunteer, and if you help at every race, you’ll earn a special Crew Gift at season’s end.
You also get bragging rights, camaraderie, and that warm fuzzy feeling of keeping Utah’s Nordic ski tradition alive.
Why volunteer?
Volunteering is one of the best ways to be part of the WCS community. You’ll work alongside a great group of people, learn how races run behind the scenes, and help keep Nordic skiing thriving in Utah.
It’s fun, rewarding, and a chance to give back to the sport you love — whether you’re racing that day or just cheering others on.
