White Pine

A bluebird morning with a new cat on the trails! Sunshine and freshly groomed trails is the forecast with a chance of clouds later in the day. Not quite as cold overnight but you’ll still glide best with blue wax today. The snow may transform mid-afternoon and get sticky so you may need some red or purple top coat with some structure on your bases. We’ll see lots of sun early today and temperatures around 32 degrees this afternoon. We’re grooming the 3k, 5k, Armstrong and the Dog Loop with classic and resurfaced skate lanes. Conditions can be described as zen garden corduroy. The dog loop is open and running joyfully through the field. The Farm is open and groomed for the weekend. The Farm is a fee area for skiing. No walking, dogs, running, cycling or trespassing on the trails. Park in the new Meadows trailhead lot or better yet, ski the entire loop from the Nordic Center.

Our new snowcat arrived yesterday and has been prowling the trails. Keep an eye out for it. Ski with caution on the Farm on that corduroy. Conditions remain thin in places and a high speed mistake will have consequences.

Classic skiing will be very good today and skate will also be quite good and getting better as the day goes on. A good universal liquid or paste wax on your fish scale classic skis (tip to tail) is always helpful if it gets sticky late in the day. Skin skis are an exceptional no-fuss classic option. Bring your family, friends and neighbors along to play and if you need to take a mid-day “therapy” break we’ll write you an excusal note. Drop off your skis when you’re finished for a well deserved overnight spa treatment. Please purchase AND display your trail pass to access our trails. Ski Joyfully, share the trail, lean into the curves, glide smoothly and take a couple of laps on our beautiful winter trails! Thank you for being part of our amazing community and making it all the way to the end of today’s trail report. Now go outside and play!

A special thank you to Prinoth for delivering a shiny new Husky Snowcat for us to use this winter. If you enjoy what we’re providing, be sure to tell your local city officials how great it is to have such an incredible long-term community partnership between PC and White Pine Touring. We’ve been making trails on the golf course and beyond for 47 years.
