White Pine

We strongly recommend checking in at the Nordic Center before you head out on the trail. Assuming that you know the conditions and just heading out might lead to surprises. We want you to have a great ski experience and are working hard every day to keep as much open as we can. Afternoon snow shoveling is a great cross training option. Please ask where you can help to keep everyone skiing.

Carpe Ski-em redux. Crust cruising season is underway! Get off the trail and feel the freedom of cruising the smooth ice crust. As soon as it starts to break under you get off the crust and back on the trail (probably around 9:45 today)
We can’t control the weather but the next few days should be good. The afternoon temperatures are looking a little challenging for the next several days, but we’re making the best lemonade we can by sprinkling fresh sugar on trails. We are very lightly smoothing out the ruts on the 3k and Armstrong. Dog Loop and Farm were groomed yesterday for probably the last time until we get some more snow. There are thin spots so be aware and watch for rocks, grass and pavement. Conditions will be good on the 3k and Armstrong with the good surface and shallow classic track. Skiing will be best from about 9:30 until about 2 due to the cold snow temperatures overnight.
The 5km loop trail is CLOSED until further notice but early crust skiing will be good if you make your way carefully out there. Skating will be good until mid-afternoon today then we strongly recommend changing to classic skiing after 2 pm in order to help protect and maintain the trails and prevent ruts from skating. We’ll see blue sky and sunshine all day. Expect spring-like mixed conditions with soft melting surface in the sun and glazed in the shade. Keep your eyes forward and watch where you are going.
Wax will be blue/violet early then skin skis for kick and violet/red for glide over the day. We’ll see the snow transform quickly today so make sure you’re waxed and have some structure on your bases to release the water surface tension. Be aware of icy patches in the parking lot and walkways. Walk with care in your ski boots and use the handrail on the stairs. We can wax or structure your skis and upgrade your gear as needed.
No walking, dogs, running, cycling, driving or trespassing on the trails. When you need to take a physical and/or mental therapy getaway or a break from the news cycle we’re here for you every day. It will be a great afternoon to drop off your skis for a relaxing wax massage so they’ll be ready for more spring skiing. Put on your sunglasses, touch up your sunscreen, snug those laces and head outside today! Stay hydrated, soak up Joy and sunshine out on the trails, look out for signs of too early spring, ski safe and be kind. Still considering swimwear and pond skimming next week. Thank you for being part of our amazing community and reading this far into this cautiously optimistic trail report. Go for a ski and then drop in the store to say hi and visit for a few minutes. See you on the trails!

We have another Toko Wax Clinic coming up Saturday March 1st at 3:30 at the Nordic Center. $10 cover charge and discounts after the clinic on wax and waxing accessories. We’ll be giving away a pair of Swix poles after the clinic to a lucky attendee. No reservations required
