We shook the Magic 8 Ball again this morning (this is getting quite fun) and asked if it would be a bluebird ski day. It answered “Yes, definitely” We’ll run with that for the conditions on the trail today. It was cold overnight and that helped dry out the snow a little. The 3k, 5k, Practice Loop and Armstrong will be open today. We are snowcat grooming the 3km and Armstrong loops. We will have some fresh corduroy and shallow classic on the 3k and Armstrong. We are snowmobile grooming the 5k and we’ll set as much classic track as we are able to given the snow depth. Please stay off the trail for 30 minutes after grooming in order for the tracks and skate surface to set up for better skiing. Skiing will be a little slow this morning and speeding up over the day. The surface with the fresh groom will be soft cold cappuccino foam this morning. We do have some icy patches and wet areas under the new snow so keep your eyes open and look forward. It will be a another great day for snowshoeing if the skiing isn’t speaking to you and you still need to get outside.
Please check in at the Nordic Center or check the report later for any updates.
The Dog Loop and Farm are very patchy, uneven, muddy, icy and CLOSED and not recommended for skiing until we change their status.
Keep an eye out for the low bush peeking through, grassy, icy or wet patches are lurking underneath and near the trails. Skiing should be best all day today but may get sticky late in the afternoon. If it does soften significantly, please switch to classic skiing late in the day to prevent ruts from forming. Wax will be red with structure for skate and classic after 10:30 today. Well-waxed fish scales or skin skis for classic would be a great option as the day progresses. SPF 30+ for your face today is recommended. Be aware of icy patches near the trail, in the parking lot and walkways. Please walk with care in your ski boots and use the handrail on the stairs. Please no walking, dogs, running, cycling, driving or trespassing on the trails. When you need to take a physical and/or mental therapy getaway or a break from the news cycle we’re here for you every day. It will be a great afternoon to drop off your skis for a relaxing wax massage so they’ll be ready for more spring skiing. Feel the Joy out on the trail, breathe some fresh air, rejoice in the fresh fallen snow, soak in some sunshine, be safe and be kind out there. Thank you for being part of our remarkable ski community and reading all the way down here in our our “magic 8 ball” trail report. Looking forward to some really good spring skiing conditions in the next few days! Maybe the snow bunnies will hop back out to play. Drop in the store to say hi, shop the sale and visit for a few minutes. We’ll see you on the trails!
