Saturday 11 A.M. Update: We have groomed very limited track. Rock skis only, NO SKATING PLEASE! The snow is thin and not bonding well currently. Skating will easily push to the turf or pavement, making the track unusable for everyone and making it unlikely we can groom Sunday morning. Not everything that has corduroy is open. There is corduroy on portions that Stephen has now marked as closed (rope or stakes across the entry). If you head beyond these markers, you will hit bare or barely covered pavement. Too thin to set classic track, of course, but the striding will be fun just the same. At this point, we anticipate grooming again Sunday morning.
A measured 7 inches over grass and 4 inches over pavement before grooming. Another inch or so in the forecast, as well as much colder temperatures, for Saturday night. Biggest challenge is the very warm subsurface temperatures, roughly 41 degrees in this area. Ski with caution.
