Greeter Hut Monitors
Mountain Dell is our home track, and it’s groomed daily by a crack team of volunteers, but it isn’t free. The equipment used to make that spectacular corduroy and those crisp classic tracks is expensive, and it wears out. Track fees are the income that allows TUNA to keep Mountain Dell running—not to mention gas for the vehicles.
Want to help with the efforts? Just sitting a shift at the greeter hut makes a huge difference! You aren’t expected to be the “track police,” but a simple “Hi there! Welcome to Mountain Dell” is often enough for visitors to stop and notice that we do charge a day fee. Weekends and holidays are the most important time. Bring the family and take turns having laps on the track! Bring a picnic and make new friends as they come to enjoy our beautiful facility!

Volunteer guidelines for Comp & Jr. Comp. Parents
Registration for TUNA Comp and Jr. Comp athletes includes a refundable deposit of $250/ athlete.
The TUNA volunteer year parallels our financial year and runs from July 1 through June 30th.
For skiers in the Comp/Jr. Comp program, TUNA requires 15 hours of volunteer service plus one 3 1/2 hour shift of greeting and pass sales at Mountain Dell per enrolled athlete.
At the conclusion of the season, parents who complete the 15 hours and greeter shift will be given a refund of $250 from the cost of the program.
We would highly encourage parents to consider taking on another greeting shift as Mountain Dell daily pass sales are vital to the health of TUNA Jr. Programs and the organization as a whole. Extra greeting shifts can be credited against needed volunteer hours.
Volunteer refund procedure: After completing volunteer hours for the season, you’ll receive a form to submit your hours to Jen Santoro no later than June 25th following the ski season. Email to Jen.santoro@utahnordic.org. Please include the items listed in the form.
Once an opening date has been determined for Mountain Dell in the form of enough snow to groom and ski, the Greeting Calendar will be opened up for sign-ups on the TUNA web site. It is vital that early season weekends and Christmas through New years dates are prioritized by parents.
Greeting shifts run from 9:30 am through 12:30 pm and 12:30 pm through 4:00 pm
After the Greeting calendar has been open for sign-up for several weeks, parents will then have the option to sign up for another shift. A second Mountain Dell greeting shift per athlete will entitle the parent to a volunteer credit of 6 hours (for 3½ hours of Greeting) against the required year long amount of 15 hours.
If Mountain Dell is forced to close due to low snow conditions or other unforeseen issues, the TUNA board will determine how volunteer hours are affected on a case by case basis.
TUNA is a volunteer-run organization. You can help!
