White Pine

It is a rosy-cheeked Winter morning. Have a mindful Martin Luther King Day.

Enjoy that second steamy mug before you head out with your boot covers, best mittens, warm beanie and buff. we were at 0 degrees F at 7am. We might make it up to 12 degrees by afternoon under a bright blue sky. Todd and Kurt groomed late last night to get the very best surface this morning. 22km of cold firm classic track and corduroy this morning was the result. You’ll glide best with green or blue wax and iron-in cold powder today. Grip will be green or a thin layer of blue wax. Fresh skate and classic on the 5k, 3k, Dog Loop and the Farm. More zen garden corduroy with a 100 percent chance of great skiing. The dog loop is open and running excitedly through the field (cover up those paws today).

The Farm is open and groomed. The Farm is a fee area for skiing. No walking, dogs, running, cycling or trespassing on the trails. Park in the new Meadows Drive trailhead lot or better yet, ski the entire loop from the Nordic Center. Our new snowcat has been prowling the trails. Ski with caution on the Farm. Classic skiing will be so very good today and skate will be slow to start, and quite good as the day goes on. A good universal liquid or paste wax on your fish scale classic skis (tip to tail) is always helpful. Skin skis are an exceptional no-fuss classic option if green hard wax isn’t your game.

Bring your partners, friends and neighbors along to play and if you need to take a mid-day “physical and/or mental therapy” break we’ll write you a note. Drop off your skis when you’re finished for an overnight spa treatment. Please purchase AND display your trail pass to access our trails. Ski with great Joy, share the trail, glide into the curves and take a few laps on our beaded string of beautiful trails! Thank you for being part of our amazing community and supporting long-form trail prose. Now grab that beanie, your buff, boot covers, your good gloves and head outside to enjoy the day!

A special thank you to Prinoth for delivering a shiny new Husky Snowcat for us to use this winter. If you enjoy what we’re providing, be sure to tell your local city officials how great it is to have such an incredible long-term community partnership between PC and White Pine Touring. We’ve been making trails on the golf course and beyond for 47 years. We’d like that to continue and letting Park City elected officials know of your support might be a good thing.
