The season finale countdown. We won’t leave you with a cliffhanger. the 3k and Armstrong will be groomed for skate today. Very icy and hard track morning due to the very cold overnight temperatures. Conditions should be much more fun late morning with the sun hitting the surface. crust skiing is very very good this morning. The Farm is finished from a grooming standpoint, the trail is marked closed. The crust skiing should be great there most of the day if you’re feeling adventurous. Crust skiing on the 3k or the outer edges of the 5k might be a great activity! accessing the 5k fingers might be difficult with the ramping up of construction of the water plant and ponds. Use caution and watch where you’re going please.

Tomorrow is it for the season. If you get a chance, drop in and tell the staff Thank you. It has been quite a covid winter and we’ve been open every single day since Thanksgiving week (not all of them for skiing early on….) Get your skis in today for storage wax or repairs so that you can pick them up tomorrow.

Stay safe, finish the season with panache and we’ll see you out on the trails!

Hard to say… 50 degrees at 8:00 am with an icy crust on top. We’ve scratched up the 3k for skating, doing the same on the Farm. The 60 degrees did no favors for the trails yesterday. Some disconnects showing up on the Farm, but crust cruising should be great in the pasture and along the open areas. Not sure how long the crust will hold so time it right. It is supposed to get colder as the day goes on so maybe we’ll make it until Wednesday. Today could be the last groom on the Farm. At a certain point you just have to channel your inner Disney princess and “let it go”

Ski with caution and watch where you are going. Mid day should be best, but no guarantees with the weather like this. Get your skis in no later than TOMORROW for storage wax so you can pick them up Wednesday. After that we’ll have to leave them in the parking lot for the summer.

Thank you all for your on going support and we’ll see you out on the trails. (While they last)

Solitude Nordic

Beautiful skiing today at SNC! Snow tilled up nicely again and for this time of year, with these warm temperatures, we are truly lucky to have such excellent snow to ski on. All trails groomed for classic and skating.

Solitude Nordic

The snow tilled up nicely this morning. Get it early until the sun starts to effect the trails. Good hard- wax classic on most trails, especially the Redmans- but get it early. All trails groomed for skating and classic.
16°F this morning at Solitude Base Area.

SPF100 today Afternoon temperatures in the mid 50’s. The 5k is finished, just the practice area and a small loop left of okay skiing. The 3k and Armstrong are full on Spring with an icy crust this morning, great skiing mid morning until early afternoon, then mush. The Farm is skiing great, but the ribbon of white is going to be the dominant visual later today. PLEASE purchase and display your pass – we are checking and everyone was so nice about it yesterday.

If you don’t have a pass, drop some money in the box by the gate. It’s good for your soul to pay for what you use.

Don’t tell anyone, but the crust skiing has been incredible in the mornings… The story is, if you want to ski, get here! If you’re done, drop off your skis no later than Tuesday for storage wax or drop in the shop to pick up some wax if you’re doing your own. We will be closed for the season as of 6pm Wednesday.

Stay safe, stay healthy, mask up, ski aware of high contrast areas on the trails and Thank you for being wonderful customers!

Deer Hollow Winter Recreation Area

The Deer Hollow trails, about 20 Km, were groomed today by two of our all-star grooming crew! They reported that 2-3 inches of new snowfall came down today, with another couple of inches forecasted. There is still plenty of snow on the mountain as we transition into spring. We plan to groom for the next 2-3 weekends conditions permitting. The area has some 3-5 feet of snow cover now.

the end is near… But today should be a fantastic SPF70+ day! the 5k described with compassion is “discontinuous” in places. if you ski it, please use caution and note the high contrast sections where white turns into black pavement or brown grass. Glide is very poor over those section. The 3k should be spectacular most of the day until it turns into a slush fest in the afternoon. Be cautious around the couple of narrow, thin or icy spots in a few of the turns. Armstrong and the Farm will be very very good, but as always this time of year, pay attention to where you are going.

Please purchase and display your pass – poaching has been on the rise this week.

Our final day of grooming and having the shop open will be Wednesday March 31st. if you need storage wax, get your skis in no later than Tuesday! If you need to buy wax, get in now to get what you need. we’ll be packing things out Thursday morning to help get ready for the off-season golf use of the ski trails. Stop in and say Hi and thank the WPT staff for managing to stay healthy and open this season. We’ve worked incredibly hard so that you can enjoy your skiing. A little love goes a long way.

Excellent skiing today for both skate and classic. Cold snow in the morning with temps rising in the afternoon. Enjoy good cold fresh snow before it gets icy. Temps will rise next week.

Spruces was groomed this morning, about 1-2″ of fresh snow. Still some thin spots out there, be careful! Beautiful conditions. No classic set today, still a bit thin on that side of the track. But plenty of snow on the loops. Have a great weekend!

Millcreek Canyon was groomed this morning, and classic track was set all the way. Conditions were great! Come up and have fun this weekend!

a few inches of fresh snow overnight. Should be a great day for skiing! also a great day for wax and structure…. 3k, Armstrong and Farm should be very good with the white cover but still ski with caution as there are thin and icy spots around. The 5k is covered, but very thin with grass and pavement lurking below the surface in a few areas. you can still pick your way past the construction and get to really good skiing out on the fingers and hills. Closing day will be coming soon, so get here and ski.

Thank you for purchasing and displaying your trail pass! If you’ve been poaching the Farm all season or running or walking your dog on the ski trails, it might be a good karmic time to drop some wads of cash into the fee box at the gate. But that’s between you and your conscience. I’m not sure of the drive-up confessional at St. Mary’s is still there.

Stay safe, ski safe and have a beautiful day! We’ll see you out on the trails!

Grooming turned out great with the low cold temps this morning. Temps should stay cold and conditions should be fantastic the rest of the day. The morning should be better if you want to avoid the afternoon snowfall. If you are wondering we should stay open through mid April with the conditions we have been getting, so come and enjoy Nordic skiing while we still have it.

Still hanging on! Someone called to complain that the grooming report “never changes” Respectfully disagreeing,, it is common for skiing conditions to be stable for days at a time. Its really our of our control in regard to the weather. Having said that, we are hanging on. Lots of caution needed on the 5k, the farm and everywhere in between. Spring conditions rule the day with a hard track early and holding steady all day. Cloud cover should keep too much melting at bay until the snow arrives later this afternoon. refreshed surfaces and tracks were left in overnight. classic skiing should be good from mid morning on. Skating should be changing but good all day.

SKI WITH CAUTION! there are grassy and pavement areas coming through as well as the usual icy patches in Spring. Be careful and have fun.

Remember to purchase and display your pass! and remind walker, film crews, skijorers, runners and dog owners that the ski trail are for paying skiers. Please.

this next storm will help determine if we’ll be open after Sunday. Bring in your skis for storage wax now if you’re done. We may not be here next week.

Hanging in there. Extreme Spring is back. 5k is groomed and may make it another day- some bare, icy and dirty patches…. 3k has some icy bits but groomed and ready to go. tracks were super hard this morning. that will change over the day. dog loop is good up high, icy/wet down low. Farm is holding well and skiing great. some places to pay close attention along the way but still pretty darn good for the end of March. Please no dogs, walkers or runners…. Display your pass and maybe drop a few bucks in the cash box if you didn’t buy a pass this winter.

Bring in those ski for storage wax! we are in the countdown for closing for the season. We’ll be open through this weekend, but no promises after that!

Stay safe and ski with care.

We groomed this afternoon, Upper and Lower loops. Just set classic on the upper loop today – snow lightly falling as we left so hopefully we get some tonight! If you lost a pair of sunglasses today, I found them. Send me an email describing the case at matthew.hales@usda.gov.
