Spruces

Good afternoon, we took the sleds out and rolled a light dusting of snow on the Spruces Upper Loops this morning. The southern part of the upper loops has stayed cold and has good coverage. The northern side of the loops has quite a bit of ice and some pavement showing, so be careful there. Enjoy!

Lake Loop groomed this morning for skate and classic. It’s only half a kilometer but we’ll take it! About 3″ of fresh sugary snow since yesterday.
The Redman loops are also open but were not groomed today.

For now, ski passes and rentals are half off. We are open for lessons every day now.

Community Day is coming soon! January 9th, 2026. More info on our website.

None of our ski trails are currently open and the forecast for the next several days is good for gift shopping, drinking tea and not so good for skiing. Fingers crossed for the weekend. Soldier Hollow

For those of you who braved yesterday’s soggy conditions you should be pleased to know it is cold and sunny right now with the usual impeccable grooming of our manmade track with double classic tracks suitable for your best equipment. It is 20F at 830am. Chances of precipitation return around midday so morning should be best (chance of rain/snow and a high of 44 expected). Lots of snowmaking happening right now so hopefully our current 1.5k laps will soon grow longer.

Another great night of snowmaking and now we have groomed all the way to the Pony Express trail Junction and down the south side of the Hollow, making for a great loop!! if you come early just be very cautious of the wet slow snow under the guns!!!!! THE SHOP IS OPEN 9-5 TODAY. The Magic 8 Ball said “outlook good” when asked about a snowy holiday. Plan accordingly. We went from “day to day” to “no way” in the unseasonable heat. None of our ski trails are currently open and the forecast for the next several days is good for gift shopping, cycling or hiking, not so good for skiing.

We are renting snowshoes right now and can offer up some advice on places to go. Getting outside is better than not getting outside!

Buying yourself or someone you love a gift of a skiing experience lasts a lifetime and never goes out of style.

Spruces

Hello all, welcome to another winter at Spruces. Wanted to give you an update. Coverage on the Upper and Lower loops is very thin, with many patches of ice and pavement showing, especially on the northern side of the loops. The southern side of the loops is a bit better and colder. Chris was able to groom on the southern side of the Upper Loop, and the rest of the upper and lower loops has been rolled or sled packed. Suitable for some skiing, but it is a bit icy and thin. Please be careful going around and watch out for pavement. We need more snow to be able to groom regularly, and to get over to Jordan Pines. But the trail is still enjoyable. Hope to see you out this winter. Feel free to reach out to me with questions.

Solitude Nordic

We are open with limited terrain! Lake Flat was groomed yesterday and ready to go today for skate and classic. Our lower Redman Loops are also ready for skate and classic. Be aware of thin spots as well as icy and slick spots. The lower trails require about 150-yard boot pack to get to the start. We look forward to seeing you up here! Free parking at the Nordic Center this weekend and parking on the road or Moonbeam requires a reservation and payment.

Soldier Hollow

Another fine day of skiing will be on at Soldier Hollow today. A full stadium and hollow lap equals 1.5k with impeccable grooming and classic track set. There is full snowmaking going this morning so be cautious of stickier snow where the piles may overlap the grooming. And it still being March in December you can expect the perfect conditions to become wetter in the heat of the afternoon (sunny and high of 54 expected). Mid to late morning has proved to be the best window the past couple of days. Unlike the past four days there won’t be packs of beginner middle school students on the track but we are running a smaller ladies clinic. Please be courteous and share the trail. More info can be found here:

Friday, January 9th we are having Community Day! Free tickets, rentals, and on-snow activities! Intro to Classic and Skate clinics. Complimentary Snowshoe tour. Utah Avalanche Center Know Before You Go presentation. Waxing Clinic. Nutrition Coaching for Athletes. More info and times on our website. We would love to see you there!
