Beautiful Spring Day! SPF70+ firm track am with one classic reset on the 5k and 3k. Farm coming along later with a refresh on the skate lanes. Please purchase and display your pass while skiing! So many walkers and dogs on the 5k yesterday….. Please remind folks that the ski trails are a fee area and that Round Valley is a great place for dogs and walkers. Help us keep the tracks safe for you. Be aware of the dredging detour on the 5k and ski with caution near active construction. Stay safe!

Wednesday morning (March 4th!) and the majority of the course is still open for reps. Everything was groomed for classic and skate except World Cup, Wiggle Room (closed), and the lowest segment of Lower. The classic tracks are thin in places, notably on lollipop stem, lower beyond Cullen’s cutoff, and Mitten. Skate lanes are holding up nicely as of 10:30am. Have fun out there!

Warm and overcast morning with a hint of fresh wet snow on top. Wax and STRUCTURE! Bring your skis in and we can help make them move on conditions like this. warm all day with red maybe even yellow wax needed. Spring seems to be thundering in this week so get out there and enjoy the trails. Please purchase and display your trail pass! Yes, we’ll be out checking and yes, we saw you at the Farm yesterday… Please help us remind walkers, dog owners, fat bikers and new locals that the ski trails are for skiing. There are numerous wonderful options at Round Valley and Basin Trails for those multi-use activities. Footprints on a soft track are dangerous for skiers and no one understands the compulsion that some people have to walk right down the classic tracks… It’s a mystery to us. Stay safe and healthy!

In the words of Bill Withers, “Lovely Day” Blue sky, spring arrives midday. SPF50+ today. Blue wax with firm track skating in the morning, Classic tracks will soften a bit midday onward with red being the likely wax of choice. Hard and fast in the morning for certain. Packed powder and refreshed skate lanes everywhere. Skiing has been so good this week!

Please purchase and display your trail pass while skiing! Yes, we are checking. If you encounter dog walkers, runners, walkers, lost tourists, lost locals, fat bikers or anyone else not on skis on the ski trail please encourage them to visit the wonderful Round Valley or Basin Rec trails for those multi-use activities. Those trails were designed and built with your taxes and contributions to Mountain Trails just for those purposes. Have a wonderful day and we’ll see you out on the ski trails!

Mountain Dell

All loops groomed for skate and classic late Monday evening. Skate only on World Cup. The Lower below Cullen’s remains quite soft from the previous weekend storm and extra caution is warranted. Pretty rare to have the entire track open first of March with this kind of coverage. Sliding today should be glorious in the abundant sunshine. Come up and enjoy the last couple weeks of the Mountain Dell Season. Cheers!

Groomed to the top of Big Mountain Pass for skate and classic after 17″ with the storm. Softer conditions, of course, but nice groom overall. First time all three of us groomed together. Fairly thick pack towards the top, but our pending heat wave will put the hurt to the first mile or so. Asphalt may be poking through by the weekend, so come ski before it’s too late!
