Finishing up our second month of spring skiing today! The same conditions as yesterday. All 22km are groomed and open with great skiing. Joyful spring skiing conditions. We are continuing with very light touch maintenance grooming until it snows again and/or the temperatures drop in the next few days. That means very fast and very firm early, great crust skiing off the trail and hard packed classic tracks early. Conditions will be getting softer through the day as temperatures climb into the 40’s again today. Prime skiing will be between 9:30 and about 1:30. Icy before that, softening and some slushy conditions after. Warm temperatures yesterday and cold early morning means we’ll have a hard packed surface underneath the fresh crumble most of the day. Conditions may get soft and/or sticky later in the day when the snow transforms.
The 5km, 3km and Armstrong loops will be maintenance groomed first today. Watch for the moose on the 3km. We’ve seen the tracks but not the moose. The Farm and dog loop will be maintenance groomed next. Watch for elk on the Farm. Give them space and ask them nicely to quit walking on the track. Come share the Joy of skiing! Blue wax early, then Red/purple or maybe even yellow and structure later today. Please continue to be careful and ski within your abilities.
Ride the bus, micro transit, carpool, skateboard, cycle, e-bike or walk if you can. Parking is available all around the hotel and underground but everything you can do to reduce single driver trips helps! Come play in the snow, share the adventures, say Hi to everyone and enjoy what is shaping up to be another lovely Spring Skiing day!
Great News Skiers! Bandanas Cafe at the Hotel Park City across the hall from us is now open until 8pm daily for your after-ski beverages, wine, pizza and pasta. Now you can ski until sundown and then have a relaxing place to snack while you’re waiting for traffic on the highway to thin out! We also have discount coupons for evening dining there!
Get your marathon skis in for waxing early if you want our race service before you head out to the big races. Be planning for your Birkie race wax! If you’re waxing your own skis we have all the fastest non-flouro waxes, powders and sprays in stock including Swix Marathon, Swix Top Speed and all three Toko HP Powders!
Enjoy the sunny day!

The skate lanes cleaned up Tuesday evening on Mitten, Main, Boomerang, LolliTop, Park By-Pass and Kid’s Cutoff. Lollipop Stem, Wiggle and the section of Kids from Main to the Park By-Pass have melted out. Classic tracks were not reset, but the classic skiing on Main and Boomerang should be fair. The best time to ski will be before Noon. We are doing all we can to keep the track viable for all of our skiers and juniors programs in this extremely warm spell. We can only groom in the evening, and have to hit it at 6 P.M., as soon as all the juniors have cleared. If you ski while we are grooming you will leave very deep trenches that will freeze solid and make skiing dangerous for all users the following morning. Please show your respect for the skiing community and for the volunteer groomers who make this track possible by not skiing after 6 P.M. on Tuesday evening and Wednesday evening

All our trails are open and have been groomed within the last day or so. The conditions will soften throughout the day as the temperatures rise, but are hard in the morning with the overnight freeze. Bike Utah will be holding their second fat bike race tonight at 6:30, so night skiing trails may be effected.

Tuesday skiing will be good for skate. Conditions will be icy and fast early, but as the day goes on conditions will soften. Mid to late morning will likely ski the best. The classic track is poor and very thin, we didn’t try and make it worse. Careful out there, especially early in the day, you will find some icy patches that will remain until at least midday. Groomed Main, Mitten, Lollipop, Wiggle-Room, Boomerang and Cutoff for skate. Lower trail and Creek trails are still closed. A few thin / patchy areas on Mitten, Lollipop, and Wiggle.

The track has withstood the sun and warm afternoons. Classic skiing was good today until the track softened a bit before noon. Skating still was looking great. The plan is to re-groom the skate lane early Tuesday morning for a good morning of skating, and leave the classic tracks as they are.
NB: Your groomer will leave Wednesday 1/31 for the US Olympic Trials marathon in Orlando, FL, to cheer on his daughter. Back late Sunday 2/4 and will jump back on the sled Monday. Let’s hope for more snow and some colder weather.

Groomed skate deck today. Fast and firm down low but conditions improve with elevation.

Almost the same as yesterday, but even warmer. Endless spring conditions continue on today. Be careful early. Crust cruising should be epic again today. That means very fast and very firm early crust and getting softer through the day as temperatures climb into the mid 40’s today. Prime skiing on the trails will be between 9:30 and about 2. Icy before that, softening and some slushy conditions after. Sunny skies predicted today so wear your protection. Watch for icy patches on trails, walkways, parking lots and elsewhere early. Remember you have ski boots on! Warm temperatures yesterday and cold early morning means we’ll have a hard packed surface underneath the fresh crumble. Conditions may get very soft and/or sticky later in the day when the snow transforms. The 5km, 3km and Armstrong loops will be groomed first today. The Farm and dog loop will be touched if needed. Watch for elk on the Farm. Give them space and ask them nicely to quit walking on the track. Come share the Joy of skiing! If your skis are slow or sticking, it’s definitely time to wax. White Pine Touring Nordic Center is a Flouro Free zone. No HF, LF or PFC waxes are allowed by county ordinance and common sense. If you have old Flouro waxes bring them in to the recycling bin in the shop and we’ll give you 25% off Flouro Free high performance replacement sprays and hard waxes. Let’s do our part to maintain drinking water quality and health.
Get your Boulder Mountain Tour skis in for waxing early if you want our race service before you head up to Sun Valley. Be planning for your Birkie race wax timing too! If you’re waxing your own skis we have all the fastest non-flouro waxes and sprays in stock including Swix Marathon!
