Happy New Year and happy new trails! We were able to groom a lot today, and most of our trails are now open. Silver Lake, Cabin Fever, Cornucopia, the Redmans, and Solitude Street are newly groomed. Classic track set on all trails. Ski cautiously and look out for early-season hazards: rocks, sticks, and uneven terrain. 16° at 8:30am, high of 28° with snow starting this afternoon. Enjoy!

Finally enough snow at the gate to groom. It’s icy and paper thin for the first mile. After grooming, two of us skated it with caution; a very light touch with the legs and didn’t cut through the ice and to the pavement. But you sure could, so be cautious and you’ll be fine. It’s a completely different scene above the restroom, with 12″ at the first switchback and a bit more at the top. Groomed to the pass for skate and classic. It was too hard and icy to set classic tracks below the restroom. No snowmobiles or fat bikes buggered it up when we left mid-afternoon. Great to be back in the canyon. Happy New Year!

SR 65 / Big Mountain
Finally got to move some snow around!
Snow , well snow and ice (SNICE) at the gate. Coverage gets progressively better with altitude.
Roughly 1st mile is very thin (not ready for your race skis).
Coverage from the restroom to the top is excellent. Groomed for skate and classic from restroom to Big Mountain.
Temps in the low teens tonight should make for good skiing tomorrow.
Ticket may be hiking shoes for a mile or so and transition to skis when it looks good to you.
Any rituals you have to get more snow are appreciated!!!!!!
Spruces
Got out this morning to groom the last of the snow from this past weekend. There is now coverage everywhere and we sled packed and groomed all of Upper Spruces Loop, the Lower Spruces Loop and Jordan Pines. With all the new snow, decided to not set the classic track yet, we will do that when everything settles later this week. Conditions are good, but it is rather cold in the canyon. Have a happy and safe new year. Sushi Scale: Kappa Maki

A nice winter day here in Sanpete. Cold last night- a blessing at this point. Groomed the track again early today in order to improve the skate experience and also deal with some “classic” tracks which sunk into the skate lane at some point yesterday. Results were worth it. Just got back from a good skate and it should hold up all day. Classic is hit and miss, mostly miss. The base is just too shallow to support tracks. Again, there are some thin passages to tread lightly through. Longer term forecast does not (sadly) show much to get excited about: no substantial snow and (double whammy) some warming temps. Let’s enjoy it while we can.
Jeremy Ranch
Good Morning,
We’re finally open! We’ve been able to groom for skate on both the upper and lower trails. The lower trail is only groomed for skate on holes #6 & #7. This is roughly 1.5k. Please don’t ski any further on the lower trail. We do have cones up showing where to stop. The classic lanes will need a little more time before we can set those. The snow conditions are fast and firm with the really cold overnight temperatures.
Our Jeremy Ranch Nordic Night is just around the corner. Wednesday, January 8th we will be hosting an evening loaded with Nordic activities. Starting at 5:00pm we will have a TOKO wax clinic with Jason Travis, followed by an Atomic Product Showcase and Fittings with Sandy Brown. The evening will conclude with a Q and A with Olympian Taylor Fletcher. This will be a great way to kick off the Nordic season and get you ready for a fantastic ski year. It is complimentary to attend!! We look forward to seeing you on January 8th!!
A reminder for all Nordic skiers we will be closing at 1pm today and will be closed on New Year’s Day. Tomorrow is a free ski day to kick off 2025! Please enjoy the trails!

Groomed and set track this morning
Jeremy Ranch
Good Afternoon,
We attempted to groom again this morning but the snow was too soft and slushy. We will try again tomorrow morning hoping cooler temperatures will firm up the coverage we have. We will post an update in the morning once we know more about the track conditions.

After some great skating early yesterday, the conditions deteriorated into quite the insult to winter weather for late December. Warm temps and rain later in the evening, turning to snow later on. We picked up an inch or so. Thankfully, temps are headed down so we can hold on to what we have. Groomed all trails this morning and it looks promising. Skate lane looks good with some short stretches where coverage is unfortunately thin. I tried to set a track on the three miles of upper loop but no guarantees as the base remains thin. I will continue to use “rock skis.”

The new snow is a welcome relief from the rain yesterday afternoon. About 3 inches of fresh is groomed up quite nicely today. A flat white on the coffee drink scale. Fresh skate and classic on the 3k and 5k The trails will be soft early today and framing up through the day. It looks like we avoided an overnight ice layer again. Classic skiing will be very good, skate will also be good today. Wax will be important today to keep gliding. A little breezy this morning but the sun is coming our for a while. Blue wax for grip and glide or a good universal liquid on your classic skis, especially on your fishscale skis (tip to tail).

Temps last night dropped enough to allow the track to set up enough for me to try a grooming early this morning. Ka Ching! I made two passes over the lower loop and then one over the upper loops. I was pleasantly surprised enough with the results that I went right back to skate on it…..first skiable snow in a week or so. The track was a bit soft but the snow was very fast so the skating was just spectacular. Later in the day temps are expected to warm quite a bit so it will surely be too soft. Rain later? turning to snow later on and then finally colder nights will help a lot. No classic track now but if we get enough snow in the next round, we should be able to add one.
