Description
Dryland training sessions for elementary school (Devo-aged) TUNA junior skiers will be held in conjunction with Junior Comp and Comp training sessions to keep families from having to make it to multiple drop-off points. Tuesdays will be at various trailheads in the valley, and parents are welcome and encouraged to join the hikes/trainings on Tuesdays since we don’t want you to be stranded and bored!
Expectations
The Devo Dryland program is age-appropriate training for skiers who intend to participate in Devo Winter. The team will be running, bounding, hiking, playing games, and doing ski-specific strength training. The coaches work to design a plan that builds strength and endurance for ski season. Athletes who participate in the program should expect to participate in the activities programmed by the coaches.
While everyone has good days and bad days, our program is focused on skiing and learning to ski train. We have no “tryouts” or required prerequisites as long as skiers try their best. In other words, we’re here to practice for skiing. We will teach ski skills to anyone who wants to learn. However, we won’t accommodate those who are causing a disruption or are interfering with others’ enjoyment of the program. Please be certain before registering for the program that your athlete wants to participate in age-appropriate ski training that can include longer hikes (up to 8km) as well as short, harder efforts.
What to wear/bring: Running shoes, athletic clothes suited for the weather, snack and water.
