TUNA Goes (Mostly) Paperless

posted in: News | 0

Last year TUNA boasted a membership of 737 individuals and families. Assuming people purchased their Mountain Dell passes at the same time (hence, same mailing), that means we used 737 envelopes, printed 737 invoices, plus stamps, labor, and transportation. While that doesn’t amount to a huge amount of carbon use, the envelope stuffing alone is reminiscent of a Seinfeld episode.

In 2024, technology has changed the game, and we can save resources by offering the same benefits while reducing our carbon footprint and freeing up volunteer hours for more skilled pursuits.

I just joined TUNA for the 15th year, and I can say with certainty that I’ve faithfully recycled the entire envelope, invoice, and untouched card every one of those years while still enjoying all the benefits of being a TUNA member.

Paperless Plan

When you purchase your TUNA membership, our website automatically renews your membership for another year (our year is July 1 to June 30). That means when you log into the site, it knows you’re a “card-carrying” member without seeing the card.

If you’re nostalgic, we have still offered the option to have a card mailed to you if you check the box.

Mountain Dell Pass Pickup

While membership cards are not necessary for all the benefits, a physical ski pass is still the simplest and most cost-effective way to manage Mountain Dell. Physical passes will still be issued, and new this year will be pass pickup options including: Fall social, ski swap, Thanksgiving in West, and at the Mountain Dell greeter hut when grooming commences.

Like membership cards, there is still an option to have your pass mailed to you if you check the box on your order.

Join and Save

If you join TUNA and purchase your Mountain Dell pass before November 30, 11:59pm, you can save $70! Member earlybird passes are just $80, which means if you ski 8 times, you’ve paid for that pass without having to stuff the tube or Venmo a day fee.

Join TUNA and get your earlybird passes, here.
