Ever heard of Keegan Swenson or Haley Batten? They ruled NICA before going on to impressive careers as professional cyclists. What you might not know is that both of these athletes trained in cross-country skiing in the winter, right here in Salt Lake and Park City.
Benefits of XC skiing as cross-training:
- It’s outside, but it’s much warmer than riding in the winter
- No need for a different bike or scrambling to find snow-free trails, and no mud!
- Excellent full-body workout, including arms and core that will improve your technical riding, as aerobic as it gets
- Avoid mental burnout by doing something that will benefit bike racing, but that takes advantage of our beautiful snow

XC Team – Check Back for Registration, mid-September
Who: Grades 7-12
What: Skate skiing and optional classic skiing, recreational race opportunities locally
Coaches: Our coaches have skiing, running, and cycling backgrounds and know exactly how to make the most of your time on snow
Rentals: We have affordable rental packages, first-come, first-served
When: Dec – March
Days: Tuesday/Thursday 4:15 – 5:45
Location: Mountain Dell Golf Course, Parley’s Canyon and alternate venues when snow is low
Junior Comp and Comp
Who: Ages 11 – 14 (Junior Comp), Ages 14 – 19 (Comp)
What: Race-focused ski program, classic and skate, with options to race locally and travel
When: Mid-October through March
Days: Varied, 3 – 5 days per week
Location: Mountain Dell and other area venues
Registration: Currently open: Junior Comp Fall and Comp Winter
