East Canyon Hwy groomed this morning for skate and classic. The first .75 mile has a few large patches of exposed asphalt, but otherwise is covered with a thin layer of mostly ice. While treacherous when it’s fully frozen in the morning or toward evening, after some warming, this ice softens up enough on top to get an edge. If you persevere, you’ll find that conditions improve considerably after that. Usable classic — at the time of grooming — began about one mile up and continues to the top.

We have groomed for skate and set the classic lane on the Upper and Lower Trails this morning. Coverage is still good and trails are holding together. Come out earlier than later. Tracks will soften throughout the day with continued warm temperatures and wind. Have a great week everyone!

We’d have a pond skimming contest, but the ponds are drained for the water treatment plant project… Skiing has been exceptionally good despite the heat. Everything groomed this morning, 5k, 3k, Armstrong, Connector and Farm. Good skating early with red wax and STRUCTURE, classic should be great later as things get softer in the wind. Skin skis might be your best bet unless you want to get those klister skis out.
Please purchase and display your pass while skiing. Yesterday we had an employee physically and verbally assaulted by a (now former) season pass holder while out checking passes on the 3k. This is not acceptable behavior. The person was a Park City resident… The White Pine ski trails are for paying customers and part of that legal agreement is that you display your pass and act appropriately while on the trails. Things were calmer after the police left, but really people? It’s just skiing…. settle down. We’ve worked so hard this year to keep the trails and the Nordic Center open. It’s very demoralizing to the staff to be attacked for doing their jobs so you can come out and play.
Please encourage walkers and dog owners to visit Round Valley or the Basin Trails. The post hole problem is real in these soft conditions and makes for difficult grooming and less than ideal conditions for skiers.
Remain calm, its just skiing. Stay safe and see you out on the trails! (with your passes please)
Solitude Nordic
Very good conditions at SNC this morning. I’d estimate we have 85% fine untransformed snow and 15% granular. As the other venues melt out, we’d love to see you up here. All trails groomed for skate and classic.
Mountain Dell
Main, mitten, and Lollipop top groomed Sunday evening with the classic track reset on the Main. Likely will refreeze overnight, skiing should be good as it softens mid morning Monday before it gets too sloppy.

Spring Fling! we scratched up the skate lanes this morning but it’s pretty firm underneath. Full on Spring again today with temperatures getting into the shorts and t-shirt range from midday. SPF70+ and wax moving from blue to red to yellow over the day. Bring your skis in and we’ll wax and structure them for better performance. Ski with caution until mid morning then with great enthusiasm after that! The track is holding up remarkably well so get out and enjoy. Farm and Armstrong will be pretty firm until midday. Everything else ready to go. Come on in and grab yourself one of the few pairs of skis and poles left on the wall. You won’t regret a gear upgrade while the skiing is still so good.
Please use caution near the construction and dredging operations by the ponds on the 5k….. We feel you…
Please purchase and display your pass while skiing so we won’t have to stop you and ask for it. This skiing thing doesn’t happen for free. And as always help us remind dog walkers, walkers, bikers and random visitors that the ski trails are for skiing. Round Valley and Basin have wonderful trails for those multi-use activities!
Stay safe and healthy, Mask up and we’ll see you out on the trails!
Mountain Dell
Skiing at Mtn Dell is STRONGLY discouraged this morning, Sunday, March 7. Ice is present in many locations, including hills and corners, making it very unlikely that you can stay upright or stay on the track. Yesterday’s very warm and sunny temperatures freed up a lot a water and last night it locked up hard. This morning’s grooming crew is having a hard time standing up if they step off the machines. We will try to get back on it after about 9 A.M. (rapidly warming to 40 by then) to reform the (now iced up) mashed potatoes. The course should certainly be softer between 11 A.M. and 1 P.M., and then very, very soft.

East Canyon groomed for skate to the top of Big Mountain tonight .
Conditions are a bit like an Oreo cookie. A little dark and crunchy in the bottom of the Canyon. White and creamy in the middle Canyon. A little dirty and crunchy in top of Canyon.
Should ski OK tomorrow. Best skiing will likely be between 9:00 and 11:00. Enjoy!

We have groomed for skate and set the classic lane on the Upper and Lower Trails this morning. Coverage is still full. Trails are holding together well with the jump in mild temperatures. Tracks will soften throughout the day with warmer temperatures and wind. Have a great weekend everyone!

Conditions are cold and icy in the morning, with warm and soft in the afternoon. Cabin loop is a nice trail today along with mid redman.

Full-on Spring. Warm and Warmer temps through the day. SPF100+ for your face and your wax. Bring your skis in for warm wax and structure and you’ll be fine. Everything refreshed, classic tracks held up really well yesterday and should be good most of the day. Definitely skin ski conditions for classic (or klister if you’re feeling it). Please purchase AND display your pass while skiing. Everything will be softening up through the day but the magic will happen for a couple hours this morning. Help us stay open and safe by wearing your mask inside and in gathering areas. Just because you may have been immunized doesn’t mean we have and Covid is still highly transmissible. Actively encourage walkers and dog owners to visit the wonderful Round Valley and Basin trail systems. Our trails are for skiers (except the little dog loop off of Meadows) Stay safe and ski safe!
Spruces
The skate lanes were groomed on Friday evening. The clastic track, particularly on the upper loops was in great shape from Friday mornings groom. The temperatures did drop below freezing overnight. The coverage is great. Come on up and enjoy a great track in the mountains
Mountain Dell
The warm temps continue to erode exposed parts of the track. Lower and Creek loops have been closed. Main loop, Mitten and Lolipop skate lanes are holding up well. Expect some underlying icy spots in the morning transforming to slush by afternoon. Fresh classic track was set with mixed results. Don’t forget your sunscreen! Spring is here….
Millcreek
Groomed and set classic track late this afternoon. The best conditions you will find is above Elbow Fork
Deer Hollow Winter Recreation Area
Thurs, 3/4/21 – After Deer Hollow, east of Cedar City, rec’d 4 to 6 in. of heavy, dense snow over Wed night into this Thurs morning, the trails (about 20 Km) were groomed with the big State Sno-Cat Groomer. Corduroy was laid and classic track was set on all of the XC trails. The snowshoe trails and the new “Easy Street” trail were groomed with the snowmobiles, roller & small YTS groomer. Off trail or “backcountry” conditions are great with about 2 to 3 ft. of settled snow with the 4 to 6 in. of new making it all new again.
