Partially groomed this evening. We started as usual from the restroom and groomed to the pass. The classic and skate look good to the first switchback, and mixed from there to the restroom : A mechanical issue while descending made it necessary to end grooming when we reached the restroom. The trail from the gate to the restroom is tired and has lots of snowmobile damage. Early skiers who tolerate the conditions to the restroom will be rewarded with great skiing above it. The lower section will be groomed in the morning but the completion time is not established. Enjoy the canyon before the warm weather and rain destroys our nice but shallow snowpack down low.

It will be a crisp start to the day but it is expected to warm up to the mid 30s’s this afternoon. Conditions are great so come on out and enjoy the day with us!!

Groomed Mill Creek Road yesterday for skate and classic. Conditions improve with elevation but trail is very firm and expect a sporty descent until more snow arrives.

TODAY is the last day to drop off your skis for a Boulder Mountain Tour Race wax before you go to Sun Valley. Get them in soon!

Today’s Haiku: “Gliding open fields, tracks of a white rabbit cross, Silent snow whispers.” Cold on the trails before sunrise again this morning. We’re looking at a bright sunny day with temperatures rising with the midday sun. We regroomed the 5km this morning with our new snowcat and left the rest since they are in such great skiing shape. All 22km of trails are open for skiing today with classic and skate tracks. We’ll have a squeaky surface to start your day. You’ll glide best with green wax early, then blue wax from mid-morning. Grip wax will be green going to blue today with slightly warming air temperatures in the afternoon. The dog loop is open and running enthusiastically through the fields. The Farm is in fantastic shape and is a fee area for skiing. No walking, dogs, running, cycling or trespassing on the trails. Park in the new Meadows Drive trailhead lot or better yet, ski the entire 15km loop from the Nordic Center. A good universal liquid or paste wax on your fish scale classic skis (tip to tail) is always a great way to keep them from sticking as the snow changes during the day. Skin skis are a fantastic no-fuss classic option if hard wax isn’t your cuppa. Bring your friends and neighbors along to play on the snow and if you need to take a physical and/or mental therapy break we’ve got a trail for you. Drop off your skis when you’re finished for a rejuvenating overnight spa treatment. Please purchase AND display your trail pass to access our trails. Glide with Joy, share the trails, be kind and move gracefully along the surfaces! Thank you for being part of our amazing ski family and enjoying long-form trail poetry. Grab that beanie, your buff, your good gloves, sunglasses, and snug up your laces and come play outside!

We groomed Main, Mitten, Boomerang, Lollipop, and Park Bypass for skate on Tuesday evening. The classic track was in great shape from yesterday, so we left it. Coverage is really good and the conditions are great!

Beautiful day up at Spruces. We groomed all of the Upper Spruces Loop, Lower Spruces Loop and Jordan Pines. We have hopefully solved our snowmobile/groomer issue and will be able to set the classic track sometime this week (fingers crossed). All we need now is some fresh snow. Sushi Scale: Rainbow Roll

Soldier Hollow

Another glorious day of early cold and later perfection! Again, Welcome Ski For Light! Almost all of our adult classic skis are rented all week and be advised there are many sight impaired skiers skiing on many more classic tracks than you would normally expect out there, so please ski with caution.

Today’s Haiku: “Single digit start, Blue sky sunshine and smooth glide, Sweet like honey day.”

Very cold on the trails before sunrise this morning. We’re looking at a bright sunny day with temperatures rising with the midday sun. We regroomed the 3km, dog loop and Farm trails last night with our new snowcat and left the rest since they were beautifully groomed Sunday evening. All 22km of trails are open for skiing today with classic and skate tracks. Enjoy a warm mug before you head out. We’ll have a squeaky surface to start your day. You’ll glide best with green wax early, then blue wax and cold powder again today. Grip wax will be polar early, then green today with slightly warming air temperatures in the afternoon. The dog loop is open and running enthusiastically through the field. Be sure to cover those paws again this morning. The Farm is a fee area for skiing. No walking, dogs, running, cycling or trespassing on the trails. Park in the new Meadows Drive trailhead lot or better yet, ski the entire 15km loop from the Nordic Center.

Fairview skate lanes were groomed Monday morning. The base remains stable with a few skinny passages to connect full, wide skate lanes. I skied it late morning and it was outstanding. No longer trying to maintain a classic track though it remains skiable here and there. Ski it while we still have it! Temperatures appear to be heading up later this week and that could wreak havoc with stretches with a thinner base.
