Hi Spruces fans, welcome to another great year of cross-country skiing and snowshoeing! We will have some great new groomers from the Forest Service this year and will be grooming our usual routes. This morning, we groomed and set classic around the Upper Loops with the Ginzugroomer. We only rolled the Lower Loops, as they are still very thin. There is pavement showing on the north side of Nursery Meadows. We sled packed Jordan Pines, but were not able to take the groomer over. There are dirt and rocks showing on the trail to Jordan. Please be careful as it is pretty thin anywhere you ski. Have fun!
Mountain Dell
Back to waiting for snow. Several people got out on the thin corduroy over the past week, but now that is so intermittent as to not be worth the trouble of heading out. The recrystallized powder off the edge of the track was fun on fishscale skis on Monday, December 2, but even that will be fleeting. It is early, there will be more.
White Pine
The 2.75 km “Community Trail” and the 5.2 km “Pond Loop” are open. We will not be resurfacing the snow today. We are trying to keep as much depth as possible. The 5km loop now has some gaps in it so it is not continuous. Not as cold overnight means spring-like conditions early today. Firm surface early and softening quickly later in the day. Red wax is the best bet all day. Mid-day skiing will be best today until about 1:00 when temperatures will be well above 45 degrees F.
Surfaces are not deep at all, so ski with care and caution and awareness. If you skate, ride a flat ski and if you are cutting deep, please switch to classic so we can preserve the snow for the continuing warm days. If it’s possible, please stay off the trails late in the day if they are softening significantly. We are in snow saving mode.
Come in to purchase or pick up your season pass and check out all the gear and clothing while we have the best selection of the season. Hours 9am to 5pm daily. You must have a trail pass purchased and displayed to access our trails. Everyone ski safe, feel the Joy and enjoy another sunny day!
Soldier Hollow
Open for season passholders in the mornings from 830-1230! You can buy a season pass online or just by showing up. We have impeccable conditions on thick manmade snow suitable for the full ski quiver but it will feel like a track and field workout as there is only a short segment less then 1k available. Piles of blown snow are multiplying so the distance will extend soon.

The 2.75 km “Community Trail” and the 5.2 km “Pond Loop” are open. There isn’t a lot of sugar on the trails, but we’re making the best lemonade we can with the week’s weather lemons. Taking advantage of the morning frost by letting it sit on the trail.
Cold overnight means spring-like conditions. Hard packed early and softening significantly later in the day. Blue wax early on the firm surface. Red wax is the best bet later in the day. Mid-day skiing be best today until about 1:00 when temperatures will be well above 40 degrees F. Surfaces are not deep at all, so ski with care and caution. If you skate, ride a flat ski and if you are cutting deep, please switch to classic so we can preserve the snow for the coming warm days. If it’s possible, please stay off the trails late in the day if they are softening significantly.

The 2.75 km “Community Trail” and the 5.2 km “Pond Loop” are open. Very cold overnight means hard packed and squeaky early and softening a bit later in the day. Blue wax all day. If you’re just getting out for the season mid-day might be best. Grooming is a super light rough up from yesterday, it’s too thin to do an aggressive re-surface until we get some fresh snow in. Surfaces are not deep at all, so ski with care and caution. If you skate, ride a flat ski and if you are cutting deep, please switch to classic so we can preserve the snow for the coming days. Come in early to purchase or pick up your season pass and check out all the gear and clothing while we have the best selection of the season. Think snow! Hours 9am to 5pm daily.

White Pine
A glorious day with single digits overnight and sunshine expected throughout the day. The “060” community loop 2.75 is groomed and shallow track set 80%. The Ski View 5.2 km is groomed and 50% shallow track set. Conditions are thin and watch for unmarked hazards. Good for skating and classic today, but that may change with the much higher temperatures expected early next week. All other trails are grassy and closed. Ski with care and be aware of unmarked hazards. The stoke remains extremely high and the snow remains quite thin. Ski with care and remember you must purchase AND display your trail pass. Poaching is poor form and bad karma.
Soldier Hollow
The stadium and hollow trails are open for skiing today with more snow being made this morning. We are open to season pass holders from 8:30-12:30 this today!
Soldier Hollow
Happy Thanksgiving! We are open to season pass holders today. Limited trail access from the stadium up the hollow, come out and enjoy!
Fairview
Fairview did very well with the Tuesday storm. The snow was wet but dried out some overnight and the forseeable future looks promising to hold the snow and keep the base. Today the track was packed in order to preserve the snow. No Tidd tech or classic track today. So it is rolled and should be firm enough to skate on the next few days since coverage is good. A few spots are thin. Your groomer will be heading to the Ski Festival at Grand Mesa CO Fri-Tuesday so no new grooming the next 5-6 days. Hoping to build on the base next week. Enjoy a nice start to winter and ski season and Happy Thanksgiving!
Mountain Dell
Mt. Dell received approximately 3 inches of snow overnight, which was just barely enough to pack down and set a small amount of corduroy on parts of Main and Park Bypass Road. If you’re going to ski Mt. Dell, please take your ROCK SKIS, watch out for gopher holes, and be prepared to take off your skis and walk over multiple areas of pavement (unless your looking for a DIY stone grinding for your skis). There are a bunch of gopher holes at the bottom of the first downhill on Main, and I recommend that you ski backwards on Main until you get to the Park Bypass Road. From here, take the Park Bypass Road to the far side of Main (where the Lollipop stem meets up with Main) and continue on Main until you get back to the Park Bypass Road. This will be your best route with the least interruptions, and is the closest we have to a complete loop at this time.
Please ski with caution, buy and display a season/day pass, bring your friends, and enjoy the snow! Happy Holidays
Spruces
Managed to get out and pack/roll the Upper Spruces Loop. Wasn’t enough snow to get to the Lower Spruces Loop or Jordan Pines, and still not enough to get out the nice groomer, but it’s still early in the season. Happy Thanksgiving. Sushi Scale: Turkey Roll (or Tofurkey Roll)
