White Pine

Another very refreshing day today. Bundle up with a buff and your good gloves! Weather is showing snow arriving mid-day with some wind. Bundle up and come early for skating. Classic and skating will be adventurous when the snow comes. We’re able to reset shallow classic in most places and resurfacing the skate deck this morning. Skating will be good but slow with the cold. Classic should be quite good all day. Come share the Winter Joy. Colder temperatures mean higher performance blue wax and even blue powder should be running well. We are open 9-5 daily. Please continue to be careful and ski within your abilities. Ski with awareness through the day and into the afternoon and keep an eye on the weather for the next several days. We have 12km of skiing groomed this morning. Please ride the bus, micro transit, carpool, skateboard, cycle, e-bike or walk if you can. Parking is available all around the hotel and underground but everything you can do to reduce single driver trips helps! We’ve groomed the 3k, 5k and Armstrong. The dog loop is ok-ish. It is tracked out with walkers and flooded/frozen in the lower part. We’ll be taking a look at the farm to plot out a shortened loop after this storm cycle and for the WCS classic technique race on Saturday. Summer uses created quite a few water challenges we need to work around. Wax cards and all of the waxes from basic to super fast are in the shop. Come play in the new snow, share the Joy and enjoy the day!

Be sure to thank our incredible groomers when you see them. Lou, Roch, Matias, Mark, Todd, Joaqiun, Camille, Candela and Julian have been working extremely hard to make your ski experience the best it can be. And they have been doing a great job. None of that track and morning groom happens by accident. And please if you see a stick, pinecone or willow branch on the trail, flick it off the trail.

The Wasatch Citizens Series classic race at the Farm scheduled for Saturday January 6th has been rescheduled to Saturday January 13th. Registration is online at utahnordic.org Parking and bib pick up will be at St. Mary’s Church. Please carpool as much as possible and park responsibly. This and all WCS races have banned fluorinated (HF and LF) waxes. Stay tuned for trail info and hope the weather service nailed this forecast!

Fairview received a bit more snow overnight and again this morning. Plan was to drag the track with the G2 for skating and also set a classic track. We had electrical issues with the G2 tooth bar which waylaid that plan so I packed the new snow and drifted snow with the roller.. Electrical problem since solved (thank you Wally Chambers!) so we have the G2 to use moving forward. Today skating should be fine on the rolled track; for classic you will need to make your own tracks but that should be possible.

Good Morning,

We groomed for skate and classic on our 1.1K loop on the lower track this morning. The skate lanes groomed up really nicely and the snow coverage is good due to the snow over the past couple of days. Classic lanes are groomed, but are a little thin in some areas. With more snow in the forecast we are hoping we can open more kilometers soon! Please stay on the groomed trails.

Day passes are $5!!

Have a great day!

Mountain Dell Monday, January 8. Main, Mitten, Lollipop, Boomerang, Wiggle Room, and the Kid’s Cutoff/Park Road groomed Monday morning at 5 am. Shallow classic track is set in all areas other than the Lollipop ‘stem’. There is some grass showing through in the shallow classic track – will be skiable but bring your secondary classic skis. There’s a large bare ice patch on the Wiggle Room return – use caution.

Brrrrrr. Cold day today. Funny how normal temperatures feel cold after all the spring skiing we had in December. Bundle up with a buff and your good gloves! Looking like a beautiful partly sunny winter day. We’re able to reset shallow classic in most places and resurfacing the skate deck. The forecast calls for cold through the day with some breezes. Skating will be good but slow with the cold. Classic should be quite good all day. Come share the Joy of skiing. Colder temperatures mean higher performance blue wax and even blue powder should be running well. We are open 9-5 daily.
Please continue to be careful and ski within your abilities. Ski with awareness through the day and into the afternoon. We have 12km of skiing open. Remember to ski with care, those thinning spots, icy spots and exposed areas are below the surface. Please ride the bus, micro transit, carpool, skateboard, cycle, e-bike or walk if you can. Parking is available all around the hotel and underground but everything you can do to reduce single driver trips helps! We’ve groomed the 3k, 5k and Armstrong. The dog loop is partially ok-ish. It is tracked out with walkers and flooded/frozen in the lower part. We’ll be taking a look at the farm to plot out a shortened loop. Summer uses created quite a few water challenges we’ll need to work around. Wax cards and all of the waxes from basic to super fast are in the shop. Go play in the new snow, share the Joy and enjoy the day! Get a jump on your New year’s fitness resolutions with the gift of a lesson!

Remember, Bandanas is open late for your apres ski snacks and beverages. Warm up and enjoy the afternoon while you wait for traffic to clear. Or you can sit in traffic and ponder. Ski safe and have great day!

Groomed for skate and classic to the first switchback. Winter finally looks like winter, with 4″ at the gate and 14″ at the switchback. It was light and cold smoke, so despite lots of packing with the snowmobiles before grooming, it will likely be soft. Hopefully, the hard freeze firms it up. Caution still advised in the first mile or so, especially if skate skiing, Don’t go all Klæbo and you’ll be fine. Get up there and savor the canyon.

Mountain Dell

We are open for business!
We received about 6-8 inches of light fluffy snow last night. We were able to compress it down and create a pretty good, but soft, skating surface. Not enough snow to set classic yet.
Main, Mitten, Kids Cutoff, Park Road Bypass, Boomerang and Wiggle Room were groomed for Skate.
Beautiful day out. Get out there and have fun!

Fairview received a generous dump of dry powder last night, about 8-9″. Today the 7 km of track was rolled in order to knock the fluff out of the snow and begin to establish a base. When all is said and done, the base is only a few inches due to the lack of moisture in the snow but the track came out well- about the best way I can think of to start the grooming year. This week will be day by day but the goal will be to stay on top of all the snow that is in the forecast. That may mean lots of rolling and compacting until the pattern quiets down. Meanwhile, a rolled track should be good to skate on as well as go out and ski classic. Whenever there is not much new snow, I will also drag the track with the Tidd Tech and set a classic track in which case very nice ski conditions should prevail.

Good Morning,

We groomed for skate on our 1.1k loop on the lower track this morning. Bridge coverage is good with the added snow the past 24 hours. The skate lane groomed up really nice, but classic lanes are closed at this time due to lack of snow coverage. We received around two inches of new snow overnight and will see some snow showers throughout the day. Please stay on the groomed trails. The forecast looks promising later this week and we should receive enough snow to open more kilometers along with setting classic lanes. Winter is here!!

Day Passes are only $5!!

Have a great day!

Soldier Hollow

There is perhaps 6k of blown snow from the lodge up the hollow to the junction with Pony Express, Pony and Goin Home connecting to Big Buckaroo, down around the CMB, up Cabin Loop, part of Hermodes and the Sprint Loop and Big Buckaroo to the willows. Surface is groomed with tracks set.  Snowmaking efforts continue radiating out from the groomed loop.  If snow is being made during the day, please be cautious of the piles, stickier slower snow, and hoses and equipment.  Not much natural snow left but the upper hollow is still decent, though it has not been groomed since mid-December.
