White Pine

Happy 2024! We wish you had a safe and successful New Year. A few more snow dances please! Another sunny, blue sky, day on tap. Come share the Joy of spring skiing. We are open 9-5 daily. Unseasonably warm yet again today. Please be careful and ski within your abilities. Early conditions are hard pack and fast. Ski with awareness through the day and into the afternoon. Very much a repeat of yesterday and the day before and the day before…. A very cold morning and upper-30’s or warmer this afternoon will make for a spring-like day again. Just a light resurfacing groom this morning and using what is remaining of the established classic track due to thin conditions. There is not enough snow depth to reset classic track and it is increasingly intermittent. It will be quite firm and fast this morning but softening slightly over the day. Blue then Red wax today. Skating will be good all day. Classic is much like the last week, firm, icy track early and some softening over the day.

We have 12km of skiing open. Remember to ski with care, those thinning spots, icy spots and exposed areas are rising ever closer to the surface. Please ride the bus, micro transit, carpool, skateboard, cycle, e-bike or walk if you can. Parking is available all around the hotel and underground but everything you can do to reduce single driver trips helps! We’ve groomed the 3k, 5k and Armstrong. The dog loop is ok-ish. It is tracked out with walkers and flooded in the lower part. Wax cards and all of the waxes from basic to super fast are in the shop. Go play in the remaining snow, share the Joy and hope the forecast is good for the weekend! Get a jump on your New year’s fitness resolution with the gift of a lesson!

We’ll wait and see about the storm but check the TUNA website and blasts for updates about the scheduled Farm race on Saturday. It’s not looking very likely even with the forecasted snow coming early tomorrow. We need a lot and then some time to get the Farm open. The result of the beaver dams and the summer activities on the creek and irrigation ditches may have season long implications if the water can’t be diverted back to the natural creek bed.

Thank you all for your support at our community ski center over the holidays, we hope you’ve had a good time gliding across all the hard work it’s taken to be open on this ridiculous early part of the season. Ski Safe!

Happy New Year! Today is the first official training day ahead of US Nationals. Please be respectful of our classic tracks especially when skate skiing. Snow is still cold and crusty in the mornings. but softening up in the afternoons. We will likely be fully closed to public skiing during races, but we hope to continue our snowmaking efforts to open up Pony Express for the public later in the week.

We will be posting information about the scheduled Wasatch Citizens Series race at the Farm later this week. Stay tuned and pray for some serious snow.

Be sure to thank our incredible groomers when you see them. Lou, Roch, Matias, Mark, Joaqiun and Julian have been working extremely hard to make your ski experience the best it can be. And they have been doing a great job. None of that track and morning groom happens by accident. And please if you see a stick, pinecone or willow branch on the trail, flick it off the trail. We want to preserve every single flake until the next storm.

Ski safe and please stay within your skill level when choosing a trail.

Yikes this weather is causing some stress. Our busy holiday week continues! Come share the Joy of skiing. We are open 9-5 daily. Unseasonably warm today. Ski early then very gently in the afternoon. Just a light resurfacing groom this morning and using what is remaining of the established classic track due to thin conditions. It will be firm and fast this morning but softening quickly. We can’t effectively reset classic tracks until we get some more snow. Red wax day. Skating will be good early. Crust cruising will be good this morning but probably not by mid day. Classic is much like yesterday, improving and less icy over the day. We have ~10km of skiing open. Remember to ski with care, those thinning spots, icy spots and exposed areas are rising to the surface. Please ride the bus, micro transit, carpool or walk if you can. Parking is available all around the hotel and underground but everything you can do to reduce single driver trips helps!

We’ve groomed the 3k, 5k and Armstrong. The dog loop is ok-ish, almost completely skiable. Wax cards and all of the waxes from basic to super fast are in the shop. Go play in the snow, share the Joy! Get a jump on your New year’s fitness resolution with the gift of a lesson!

Please wash your car, your windows, do a snow dance. anything! Stay tuned for updates on the WCS race scheduled for the Farm on January 6th…

Snowmaking efforts continue, our 5 kilometers currently opened have been groomed with classic tracks set within the last few days. As snow is blown some tracks are being filled in with snow so be wary of that while you ski. This morning the snow is cold and crusty, but will likely soften a little with warmer temperatures later in the day.
