The warm temperatures today hammered the thin coverage beginning at the gate. Plan on walking way too long before skiing. The better plan yet would be to wait until we get more snow before skiing 65.
SR-65
Groomed for skate this morning to the 1st switchback.
Thin coverage at the gate but skiable. Improving coverage as you climb.

Good Morning,
We’re finally open! We’ve been able to groom the upper trail for skate only. We tried to set the classic on the upper trail but the snow was too wet and heavy. The lower trail will be closed today as we are trying to pack down more of the trail for skate and classic. We will groom the skate and set as much classic trail as we can tomorrow morning. Snow conditions are soft and heavy with this new snow that is currently falling.
Our Jeremy Ranch Nordic Night is just around the corner. Wednesday, January 8th we will be hosting an evening loaded with Nordic activities. Starting at 5:00pm we will have a TOKO wax clinic with Jason Travis, followed by an Atomic Product Showcase and Fittings with Sandy Brown. The evening will conclude with a Q and A with Olympian Taylor Fletcher. This will be a great way to kick off the Nordic season and get you ready for a fantastic ski year. It is complimentary to attend!! We look forward to seeing you on January 8th!!
Happy New Year,

We received an inch of snow! It is a frosted winter wonderland out there at least for now! Come enjoy world class grooming with your friends and family this lovely morn.
Solitude Nordic
Most trails groomed for skate and classic. (New Sensation, Bypass, Evergreen, Camp still closed). 5″ new snow, lightly snowing now, 26° at 8am, high of 34°.
Look out for early-season hazards: sticks, uneven terrain, soft snow surface.
White Pine
About 4 inches of fresh fluffy snow this morning! It’s a beautiful morning to come shake out the mind and body outdoors. The 3km, 5km and Armstrong loops will be groomed and open today with fresh classic track set. The dog loop is open, but a little scruffy in spots due to the new snow. The Farm is still awaiting more snow but we are getting very close! We’ll start snowmobile packing as soon as this afternoon. A soft surface with the new snow today (Cappuccino foam comes to mind). Classic skiing will be good today and skate will also be very good today. Good wax will be important today to keep gliding. Blue wax this morning for grip and glide or a good universal liquid on your classic skis, especially on your fishscale skis (tip to tail). If you’re not gliding well, drop off your skis for deeper wax refresh. Best skiing will be with your family and friends all day long. You must have a trail pass purchased and displayed to access our trails. Everyone please ski with enthusiasm, a big fresh snow smile and share the trail with Joy! Thank you for being part of our amazing community! Ski safe and enjoy the day!
Our first Toko wax clinic of the season is Friday January 3rd at 3:30pm at the Nordic Center. Learn basic glide wax and skin ski care from our experts. $10 fee and discounts on wax products after the clinic. Also a drawing for a pair of Rossignol ski poles!
We have a two (maybe three if you ask nicely for a friend) spaces left in our Monday morning Women’s Skate Clinic series starting on January 6th. You can book online or give us a call at the Nordic Center to register!

New Years Day! I skied this morning on a very firm base. The snow is a bit crusty but there are stretches which skate nicely. Classic not recommended. Regretfully, we have reached the point that I think it unwise to do any regrooming due to the bare stretches here and there and the risk of damaging the golf course / running the sled and groomer over bare ground. Too bad because I think large portions of the track would respond nicely from buffing the skate lane out. This all means conditions are not likely to improve until we get a significant refresh of new snow. Sigh….

Happy New Year 2025! We are open to everyone all day – 8:30-4:30!! We are blowing up a storm thanks to these cold temperatures. Come start your year off with a sensational ski!

Happy New Year from all of us at White Pine Touring! It’s a beautiful morning to come shake out the mind and body outdoors. Jump start your fitness resolutions in the fresh air. The 3km, 5km and Armstrong loops are all groomed and open today. The dog loop is open, but a little rough and ready in spots due to the low snowpack. The Farm is still awaiting more snow. Cold overnight will make for a squeaky firm track most of the day. Classic skiing will be good today and skate will also be very good today. Good wax will be important to keep gliding. Blue wax today for grip and glide or a good universal liquid on your classic skis, especially on your fishscale skis (tip to tail). If you’re not gliding well, drop off your skis for deeper wax refresh. We will be open from 9am to 5pm today.
Best skiing will be with your family and friends. Be aware of thin spots and cart paths under the surface. You must have a trail pass purchased and displayed to access our trails. Everyone please ski with unbridled enthusiasm and share the trail with Joy as we greet the new year! Thank you for being part of our amazing community! Ski safe and enjoy the day!

Happy New Year and happy new trails! We were able to groom a lot today, and most of our trails are now open. Silver Lake, Cabin Fever, Cornucopia, the Redmans, and Solitude Street are newly groomed. Classic track set on all trails. Ski cautiously and look out for early-season hazards: rocks, sticks, and uneven terrain. 16° at 8:30am, high of 28° with snow starting this afternoon. Enjoy!

Finally enough snow at the gate to groom. It’s icy and paper thin for the first mile. After grooming, two of us skated it with caution; a very light touch with the legs and didn’t cut through the ice and to the pavement. But you sure could, so be cautious and you’ll be fine. It’s a completely different scene above the restroom, with 12″ at the first switchback and a bit more at the top. Groomed to the pass for skate and classic. It was too hard and icy to set classic tracks below the restroom. No snowmobiles or fat bikes buggered it up when we left mid-afternoon. Great to be back in the canyon. Happy New Year!

SR 65 / Big Mountain
Finally got to move some snow around!
Snow , well snow and ice (SNICE) at the gate. Coverage gets progressively better with altitude.
Roughly 1st mile is very thin (not ready for your race skis).
Coverage from the restroom to the top is excellent. Groomed for skate and classic from restroom to Big Mountain.
Temps in the low teens tonight should make for good skiing tomorrow.
Ticket may be hiking shoes for a mile or so and transition to skis when it looks good to you.
Any rituals you have to get more snow are appreciated!!!!!!
Spruces
Got out this morning to groom the last of the snow from this past weekend. There is now coverage everywhere and we sled packed and groomed all of Upper Spruces Loop, the Lower Spruces Loop and Jordan Pines. With all the new snow, decided to not set the classic track yet, we will do that when everything settles later this week. Conditions are good, but it is rather cold in the canyon. Have a happy and safe new year. Sushi Scale: Kappa Maki

A nice winter day here in Sanpete. Cold last night- a blessing at this point. Groomed the track again early today in order to improve the skate experience and also deal with some “classic” tracks which sunk into the skate lane at some point yesterday. Results were worth it. Just got back from a good skate and it should hold up all day. Classic is hit and miss, mostly miss. The base is just too shallow to support tracks. Again, there are some thin passages to tread lightly through. Longer term forecast does not (sadly) show much to get excited about: no substantial snow and (double whammy) some warming temps. Let’s enjoy it while we can.

Good Morning,
We’re finally open! We’ve been able to groom for skate on both the upper and lower trails. The lower trail is only groomed for skate on holes #6 & #7. This is roughly 1.5k. Please don’t ski any further on the lower trail. We do have cones up showing where to stop. The classic lanes will need a little more time before we can set those. The snow conditions are fast and firm with the really cold overnight temperatures.

A reminder for all Nordic skiers we will be closing at 1pm today and will be closed on New Year’s Day. Tomorrow is a free ski day to kick off 2025! Please enjoy the trails!
