White Pine

Such a cruel tease. Just a skiff of snow on the firm packed trail. At least it was something rather than nothing. Spring conditions will continue. Very firm base with fresh crumble on top. Skating should be pretty good all day. Classic will be better but not pristine on the 3k and the Farm. Very cold morning with temps near freezing by mid-afternoon. Have fun and ski with care.

We highly recommend wearing a mask while indoors at the Nordic Center. Especially with the busy holiday weekend here. We’ll be busy and people will be visiting from all over the world.

PLease remember to purchase and display your trail pass. Poaching the Farm is a no-no. Also help us remind visitors and locals that there are wonderful “free” trails for walking, running, biking and walking your pet very close by. Our trails are for skiing.

As of midday Tuesday, Mountain Dell has complete coverage on all of Main, Mitten, Boomerang, Kids Cutoff and Park Road Bypass. If you are up for some careful line selection, you can also ski Lower to Swanson’s, the Creek handle and all of Lollipop. I did all of this from noon to 2p Tuesday on good skis. Skate has been best from about 10a to noon, classic best from about noon to 2p, especially for fishscales. A bit of snow is predicted for Wednesday, so it might be a fun classic day all day.

Groomed Spruces and Jordan Pines this morning. Jordan Pines cleaned up nicely. Unfortunately, we are losing snow under the trees on the north side of the loop, so there are some thin spots. Its spring skiing conditions, warm and getting a bit slushy. Here’s hoping we get some good snow this week.

Solitude Nordic

Good morning from Solitude. Our snowcat is still down so please use caution on our trails because of the icy conditions in the morning. Please check back with us on any updates.

White Pine

not very cold overnight and warm during the day. All trails are roughed up and groomed with shallow track set as we are able. Best classic skiing will be the 3k and the Farm. Crust and icy patches early, icy, shadows, soft and slushy patches later. More spring skiing is the forecast unless tonight’s snow happens. Snow is getting dirty so fresh wax and structure will give you rewards.

We still urge you to wear a mask while indoors at the Nordic Center. We want to help you and ourselves stay healthy. If you dont purchase and display your trail pass, please drop some money in the fee box at the Farm. Poaching is poor form and is not just illegal, it shows you don’t value our hard work to keep trails open for you. Help us remind walkers and pet owners of great places to go that aren’t the ski trails.

Stay safe and have fun out there!

25°F at 0930. Spruces trails groomed for skating. Classic tracks holding up well, so I did not mess with those. An interesting mix out there. Still some fine grained crystals in the shady spots like Milt’s and some fully transformed snow where the melt/freeze happened last night. It will be very slick under the trees and areas that see a lot of sun.

Happy Valentine’s Day! The track is showing signs of age and sunshine but holding up well. Today I groomed the skate lane before the sun got on the snow, to buff it out. It should ski very well through mid day. Classic track is about done for until we get a bit more snow and a chance to reset the track. Hopeful that will be Tuesday-Wednesday.

Happy Valentines Day! Show some love to your favorite groomers! Extreme Spring continues at least one more day with increasing clouds and warm temperatures. Maybe a change in the air, but we’ll wait until we actually see it. It’s a whole new category of weather skeptics. All trails groomed and open, some shallow classic track reset this morning. Ski with caution because spring conditions means icy in places and slushy in places. Often those places are very near each other on the trails. Skiing has been very good on the 3k, Armstrong and Farm. and remarkably good elsewhere given we are entering 9 weeks without measurable snowfall. Stay safe and please wear your mask indoors at the Nordic Center. Let’s show a little love for each other.
