We have groomed for skate and set the classic lane on the Upper and Lower Trails this morning. Coverage is great. Track is firm thanks to low overnight temperatures. Enjoy the snow! Have a great week everyone!

Wow… March is here. Gorgeous cold morning. everything is groomed and ready. Blue sky and blue wax will take the blues away. Get here and ski. Track should be firm all day and a bit squeaky. Please purchase and display your trail pass! Thank you all for your ongoing support and enthusiasm for nordic skiing. We are busy, but truly appreciate you and we are always happy to see you on the trails or in the shop. Please help us to continue to encourage walkers, dog owners and fat bikers to visit Round Valley or Basin trails. There really isn’t anything more frustrating for us than having Vail bound alpine skiers trudging along the track from their condos right after the groomers have passed…..

Be kind everyone and stay healthy

Groomed Feb 28th at night for the Mar 1st groom. Tracked packed and groomed the Lower area and World Cup. These two areas will be a little soft tomorrow, but still good to ski.
Everything else was groomed for skating and classic skiing, Monday should be a great day to kick and glide in the track, as well as skating in the skate lane. Have fun and enjoy!

Full course groomed for skate. Equipment failure after several minutes of setting classic precluded further progress with the setter. Soft conditions after all the snow but beautiful day with dramatic lighting with the clearing storm.

About six inches fell Saturday by midday, but with significant drifting. The Sunday morning crew of David and Tim are working on repacking and then grooming Main, Mitten, Kids and Lollipop for skate and classic. A later shift is likely to restart the sledpacking process on other loops. Expect soft conditions and machines on the track at any point today.

and here we are at the end of February already.. A beautiful winter day. It should be sunny and a little bit warmer as the day goes on, but definitely a blue wax kind of situation all day. Everything groomed and track set. firm base, soft on top. The last couple of weeks have been some of the best skiing of the winter and today is not exception. Please purchase and display your pass while skiing and we won’t ask to see it. Help us remind visitors, locals and wanna be locals to PLEASE not walk on the track and that their fat bikes and dogs are certainly welcome on the Basin and Round Valley trails, just not on the ski trails at WPT. Thank you and we’ll see you out on the trail!

Early report: Four inches overnight measured at 6 A.M., with perhaps another 1.5 inches expected by 11 A.M. Roch and Leanne are working it now, but expect soft conditions with fresh snow on the track all morning. Light snow possible all afternoon, maybe another 1 inch. We plan to refresh Main and Mitten mid-afternoon for tonight’s Mountain Dell Moonlight social ski, which starts at 6 P.M. Details on UtahNordic.org homepage.

Deer Hollow Winter Recreation Area

On Thurs, 2/25/21 Deer Hollow was groomed with the big State Sno-Cat Groomer. Corduroy was laid and classic track was set on most of the XC trails.
The snowshoe trails and the new “Easy Street” trail were groomed with the BearCat & small Ginzugroomer. Some 20 Km of trails are groomed. The parking lot is free of snow but may have some mud.

Grooming report for Thursday night by Hammer and Havy
Festus was in sunny San Jose getting a good dose of Vitamin D so my fellow Idaho native Havy was kind enough to lend a hand last night grooming . We used Red with the ginzu and Rocky with old yeller and set classic on main and mitten. Then parked old yeller and attached ginzu to Rocky and wiped out the classic on Lower. Figured with new snow coming today, we would get a good level base for the next shift to set classic after the snow. We did re-set classic on Lower around Cullens. Re-set classic on Creek, shoveled a bare spot at bottom of lower turn, and groomed WC with both rigs. Groomed the remaining trails for skate. All the equipment was fine and no Idaho engineering was required. Left MD at 10 PM at 14 degrees.

A little windy this morning… Grooming focus will be on the 3k and 5k. The Farm is windblown before the expected storm with some drifting on the trail. A blue sky blue wax morning and winds are relatively calm closer to town. We’ll groom the farm when the wind dies down a little. Please purchase and display your trail pass while skiing. Help us remind locals, new locals and wanna be locals that the ski trails are for skiing. Basin Trails and Round Valley are wonderful locations for running your dogs, walking and riding your fat bikes. Your assistance helps keep our trails well groomed and safe. We’ll see you out on the trail today!
