Groomed and set track this morning
Jeremy Ranch
Good Afternoon,
We attempted to groom again this morning but the snow was too soft and slushy. We will try again tomorrow morning hoping cooler temperatures will firm up the coverage we have. We will post an update in the morning once we know more about the track conditions.
Our Jeremy Ranch Nordic Night is just around the corner. Wednesday, January 8th we will be hosting an evening loaded with Nordic activities. Starting at 5:00pm we will have a TOKO wax clinic with Jason Travis, followed by an Atomic Product Showcase and Fittings with Sandy Brown. The evening will conclude with a Q and A with Olympian Taylor Fletcher. This will be a great way to kick off the Nordic season and get you ready for a fantastic ski year. It is complimentary to attend!! We look forward to seeing you on January 8th!!
A reminder for all Nordic skiers we will be having our annual free ski day on New Year’s Day. The Nordic Center will be closed but please enjoy the track and the start of a new year!

After some great skating early yesterday, the conditions deteriorated into quite the insult to winter weather for late December. Warm temps and rain later in the evening, turning to snow later on. We picked up an inch or so. Thankfully, temps are headed down so we can hold on to what we have. Groomed all trails this morning and it looks promising. Skate lane looks good with some short stretches where coverage is unfortunately thin. I tried to set a track on the three miles of upper loop but no guarantees as the base remains thin. I will continue to use “rock skis.”
White Pine
The new snow is a welcome relief from the rain yesterday afternoon. About 3 inches of fresh is groomed up quite nicely today. A flat white on the coffee drink scale. Fresh skate and classic on the 3k and 5k The trails will be soft early today and framing up through the day. It looks like we avoided an overnight ice layer again. Classic skiing will be very good, skate will also be good today. Wax will be important today to keep gliding. A little breezy this morning but the sun is coming our for a while. Blue wax for grip and glide or a good universal liquid on your classic skis, especially on your fishscale skis (tip to tail).
We will be open from 9am to 5pm today. Best skiing will be with your family and friends all day today. Be aware of thin spots and cart paths under the surface. You must have a trail pass purchased and displayed to access our trails. Everyone please ski with style and share the trail with Joy! Keep an eye out for snow bunnies. An actual wintery day finally! Light snow is falling and the tracks are firm and fast! Come for a quick morning ski until 10:30 or a longer afternoon ski as our trails will be closed to the public due to races from 10:30 – 12:30 pm. We are very sorry for the inconvenience.

Temps last night dropped enough to allow the track to set up enough for me to try a grooming early this morning. Ka Ching! I made two passes over the lower loop and then one over the upper loops. I was pleasantly surprised enough with the results that I went right back to skate on it…..first skiable snow in a week or so. The track was a bit soft but the snow was very fast so the skating was just spectacular. Later in the day temps are expected to warm quite a bit so it will surely be too soft. Rain later? turning to snow later on and then finally colder nights will help a lot. No classic track now but if we get enough snow in the next round, we should be able to add one.

Good Morning,
We attempted to groom again this morning but the snow was too soft. A bit of the same problem we had yesterday. We will try again tomorrow morning once we’ve received some fresh snow and colder temperatures. We will post an update in the morning once we know more about the track conditions.

Soldier Hollow
Soldier Hollow’s manmade snow easily survived the rain! Conditions on the manmade will be awesome in the morning and probably go back to wet by afternoon. Trails are open all day today, but will be closed 10:30am-12:30pm tomorrow and from 9:30-11:30am Tuesday morning.
White Pine
Nothing like a little rain in the night. The trails will be fast and firm early today and softening through the day. It looks like we avoided an overnight ice layer due to warmish temperatures. The 5km and 3km loops are being groomed and track set this morning. Classic skiing will be good, skate will be quite good today. Wax will be important today to keep from sticking. There is a chance of snow later then warming up and transforming to sticky between the snow or rain showers. Red wax for grip and glide and at a minimum, a good universal liquid on your classic skis, especially on your fishhscale skis (tip to tail). We will be open from 9am to 5pm today.
With the extra terrain, we have dropped the directional skiing, but please be kind, ski to the right and pass with care. Best skiing will be with your family and friends all day today. Be aware of thin spots and cart paths under the surface. You must have a trail pass purchased and displayed to access our trails. Everyone please ski with style and share the trail with Joy! Smile, greet the hardworking staff and your fellow skiers and keep an eye out for snow bunnies. Thank you for being part of our amazing community! Ski safe and enjoy the day!

Good morning! It is 29°F at 0800 with 4″ new snow overnight. All Lake Flat trails groomed for classic and skating.
Spruces
Same as it ever was. Sled packed and rolled the Upper Spruces Loop and the Lower Spruces Loop, and sled packed Jordan Pines. With more snow on the way, decided to not set the classic today. We will get to that after the storm cycle. Snow is kind of heavy and sticky, should be fun out there. Make sure to check the weather and road conditions before heading up. Sushi Scale: Futomaki

This is actually a non-grooming report. I have been to the track this morning and there is some new (very wet) snow on top of a soft base from yesterday’s compaction efforts. Impression is that grooming today would not produce great results nor is the skiing going to be good until temps drop. Moreover, what was coming down already was more of a drizzle as opposed to snow. Decision, maybe overly conservative, is to wait until it cools significantly to do the next grooming. Weather pattern has not been cooperating lately!
