Disappointing, and probably not worth trying to ski it Sunday. Much moisture, little accumulation. If you do head out, rock skis only. Any place you cross cart path or road surface you will almost certainly hit pavement.

White Pine

oh yes! another 4-5 inches of fresh wet snow means we are at 8 inches in this cycle. Heavy wet snow so get your wax on or you’ll be clomping. Soft sloooow sticky conditions early for skating. Best to wait until mid morning to let the snow firm for skating. Classic will be great with fresh track set if you’re waxed. This is what we’ve been waiting for.

Come out, buy or pick up your pass, ski with great Joy and enthusiasm.

Hi folks, welcome to another winter at Spruces. I groomed the upper loops today and put up the trail signs. It is still thin on the northern side and you may go down to pavement in a few spots. The lower loop still needs more snow to groom – I sled packed it today, but it is very thin and needs more snow. Have fun!

Skiing Sunday? Get it early. The forecast calls for several inches of snow overnight, and we plan to be hitting it hard starting at 6 A.M. Sunday. Normally we ask that you stay away when we are grooming out a fresh snowfall, but Sunday we are singing a different tune. Current hourly forecast (as of Saturday afternoon) has rain starting at around 11 A.M. Sunday. Up to a half inch of rain through the rest of Sunday. Skiing in rain is terrible. So come get it early, and plan to wrap it up by 11 A.M. Expect soft conditions, always a characteristic of freshly groomed snow. Expect machines on course until about 10 A.M. See you out there.

About 5 inches and counting here. Rolling of trails has started on about 11k of trails. It is packing down thin enough the trails remain closed but with enough additional accumulation tonight there is a chance of opening to season passholders starting tomorrow (Sunday December 3). Snowmaking on about 2k is progressing well so hopefully we will have some immaculate classic track before much longer.

3-4 inches of fresh snow. Shallow classic track set and skate packed on the 3km and 5km loops. Not yet on the Farm, Armstrong or Dog Loop. Please stay off of them so that government officials will be calmer. Skiing should be soft but quite good. fairly warm temps so wax accordingly. If your skis are sticking, come in and get some wax. All the new gear and clothing await you. And we have boots in your size right now. Park in the Hotel above or below ground. They have promised that the construction debris will be gone mid-month.

Ski safe, enjoy and be kind.

Nothing to get excited about yet here in Sanpete. Today we got the go ahead to set rebar in the ground and mark out the trails. We did so with snow falling off and on. Forecast is for more snow over the weekend (but followed by a mild week) so perhaps we will be able to get something going. I will note any changes in this column.

Snow! We know you are excited, and we are, too. Saturday morning will be our first chance this year to pack down the snow, and we ask for your help in letting us get some work done. For the good of the ski trail base, we ask that you consider staying off the Mountain Dell track while we are doing our first passes Saturday. If you can’t contain yourself, by all means DO NOT SKATE. The snow is not yet bonded and skate steps will just create trenches, making our task tougher. We will update on Saturday, and anticipate Sunday morning being much, much better. Buy your Mtn Dell season pass online or pay for your day pass from home. Thanks!

Happy December! Looks like some weather coming finally. We’ll update as needed, but still classic only on a thin base with unmarked hazards. If all goes well and the prognosticators are close, we’ll have enough to pack to set classic track and get all of you patient souls out skating. In the meantime, drop in get those skis waxed, pick up your pass before the big rush and start making your holiday gift list of new gear and clothing.

Be safe and be kind

More of the same conditions. A bit warmer this morning but skiing is still surprisingly good. Ski with care. CLASSIC ONLY no Skating. Come in and rent some classic skis if you need them because skiing is better than not skiing.

All sorts of new clothes and gear to look at when you come in to pick up your pass or drop off your skis for waxing.

Open 9-3 until we get a bit more snow!

Same as yesterday with a twist. CLASSIC SKIING ONLY for snow saving mode. Be aware of thin conditions and unmarked hazards. Pavement and grass featured in select locations. There are some shovels out on the 3km. Don’t be shy about stopping and throwing a scoop on to the thin spots during your workout. Think of it as community based weight training.

PCMR had to move a heavy crane across the 5km near the ponds yesterday to repair a snowmaking pump. Use extreme caution and awareness where they had to cross the trail and be thankful it had to be done now other than the week before Christmas.

Ski safe and treat each other well. More snow is coming! In the meantime, stop in and say Hi, pick up your pass and check out all the new gear!

Snow saving mode – no rolling today. 3km and 5km open for CLASSIC SKIING ONLY. Come in and rent classic skis if you don’t have them. Ski with care and caution. Warming this afternoon so skiing early is the pro move. We’re open 9-3. Afternoon could be warming up and starting the melt. 5km will have pavement and exposed hazards by mid day. There are a couple of shovels on the 3km in some thin areas. stop for a second and toss a little snow on to the thin spots to keep us all skiing as long as we can!

Waxing, repairs and gear available in the shop. All the new skis are soooo shiny (some are matte finish too). Be sure to purchase and display your trail pass. This doesn’t happen for free and without a great deal of hard work.

See you on the trail!

White Pine

No changes, maybe a light roll today. still CLASSIC SKIING ONLY at your own risk on the 3km and 5km loops. Purchase and display your trail pass as none of this happens without your support. Conditions early are cold (10 degrees before sunrise) thin and many unmarked hazards on a 3-4 inch base. Ski wisely and be gentle on the trail as things warm up this week. We’ll stay open as long as we can.

Come in and get your pass, check out all the amazing new gear and say Hi!

White Pine

The 3km and 5km loops are packed and rolled. CLASSIC SKIING ONLY. Very thin early season conditions, no track set. Skating will tear up the thin coverage and possibly your skis if you hit a cart path. Ski with caution and at your own risk. We are charging for trail passes. Please purchase and display yours. We know everyone is excited to get out, but poaching is illegal and bad karma. The trails and shop will be open 9 am to 3pm Saturday and Sunday. It is expected to warm up later in the week. Please no skating. Don’t be the person that ruins the track base for everyone.

Drop in and get your season pass photo before the rush and drop your skis off for waxing service. You can also check out all the new gear and clothing if you wish. We’ll see you soon! Ski safe and watch where you are going.
