We have another Toko Wax Clinic coming up Saturday March 1st at 3:30 at the Nordic Center. $10 cover charge and discounts after the clinic on wax and waxing accessories. We’ll be giving away a pair of Swix poles after the clinic to a lucky attendee. No reservations required.

It’s going to be a sunny spring day. This morning will be a hard glaze on the donut scale. Dog Loop and Farm are for the brave only until we get some more snow. The low bush and grass patches are definite hazards for crust cruising as are the dips and icy areas that are just getting wetter and more widespread as the heat wave continues. There are thin spots so be aware and watch for rocks, grass and pavement. Conditions are quite good on the 3k and Armstrong with the good re-surface of skate. We are not able to refresh the classic track at this time. Skate Skiing will be best from about 9 until about 2 due to the cold snow temperatures overnight and the skate refresh .Crust cruising season is underway and quite good on the golf course. Get off the trail this morning and feel the freedom of cruising the smooth icy crust. As soon as it starts to break under you get off the crust and back on the trail (probably around 10:30 today) We can’t control the weather but the next few days should remain good. We’re making the best lemonade we can this morning by very lightly smoothing out the ruts on the 3k and Armstrong. The 5km loop trail is CLOSED until further notice but early crust skiing will be good if you make your way carefully out there. Skating will be good until mid-afternoon today then we strongly recommend changing to classic skiing after 2 pm in order to help protect and maintain the trails and prevent ruts from skating. Expect spring-like mixed conditions with soft melting surface in the sun and glazed in the shade. Keep your eyes forward and watch where you are going. Wax will be blue/violet or klister early then skin skis for kick. Violet/red for glide over the day with a chance of yellow wax late. Make sure you’re waxed and have some structure on your bases today to release the water surface tension. Be aware of icy patches in the parking lot and walkways. Walk with care in your ski boots and use the handrail on the stairs. We can wax or structure your skis and upgrade your gear as needed. Please no walking, dogs, running, cycling, driving or trespassing on the trails. As you need to take a physical and/or mental therapy getaway or a break from the news cycle we’re here for you every day. It will be a great afternoon to drop off your skis for a rejuvenating spa day so they’ll be ready for more spring skiing. Put on your sunglasses, touch up your sunscreen, snug those laces and head outside today! Stay hydrated, soak up Joy and Sunshine out on the trails, look out for icy bits, ski safe and be kind. We will still consider swimwear and pond skimming next week unless we get some more snow. Thank you for being part of our amazing community and reading this deeply into this final day of February trail report. Go for a ski and then drop in the store to say hi and visit for a few minutes. See you on the trails!

We strongly recommend stopping in the shop BEFORE you head out on the trails when we have these extreme Spring-like conditions. If you head out and assume you know the conditions, you could be quite surprised. We want you to have a great ski experience every day and we’re doing our best every day to make it happen. Everyone ski safe!

Our spring sale starts February 28th. If you’re reading this, you’re the first to know. All skis, boots, poles and clothing 30% off marked prices. High performance waxes (except Toko Jet) and iron-in waxes are 40% off. All sales are final. No returns or refunds. Limited to stock on hand. Get in soon!

The snow has disappeared out on the golf course and we are scheduled to pull the rebar out later today. That means we are essentially done for the season, at least with grooming. If there is a nice late winter storm, we may go out and make our own tracks but for now, adios and we will hope for a good winter in ’25-’26.

Good Morning,

With the warmer temperatures over the past couple of days, it has forced us to close the upper trail until more snow comes. We still have 1 kilometer open on our lower trail that was groomed for skate for the whole 1km and a partial loop of the 1km is set for classic. Day passes will be $10 until we can open up the remainder of our trails.

All TUNA members receive 20% off day and season passes along with 25% off all merchandise in the Nordic Shop. All skiers can enjoy lunch in the dining room with a 10% discount when they show their pass. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Thank you for your continued support of the JR Nordic Center.

God Fredag,

Soldier Hollow

Events:  Expect partial closures due to the Nordic Combined race today at 2:30.

Weather and Conditions: It is currently 24F and sunny. The forecasted high is 53 F.

Ski Trail Conditions:  Again, the cold overnight temperatures will keep the snow firm for longer today.  See below for what was groomed.  The ungroomed trails were surprisingly icy still well into the day yesterday so ski with caution or stay on the grooming.

Snowshoeing:  The 1.7 mile snowshoe loop is open.

We strongly recommend checking in at the Nordic Center before you head out on the trail. Assuming that you know the conditions and just heading out might lead to surprises. We want you to have a great ski experience and are working hard every day to keep as much open as we can. Afternoon snow shoveling is a great cross training option. Please ask where you can help to keep everyone skiing.

Carpe Ski-em redux. Crust cruising season is underway! Get off the trail and feel the freedom of cruising the smooth ice crust. As soon as it starts to break under you get off the crust and back on the trail (probably around 9:45 today)
We can’t control the weather but the next few days should be good. The afternoon temperatures are looking a little challenging for the next several days, but we’re making the best lemonade we can by sprinkling fresh sugar on trails. We are very lightly smoothing out the ruts on the 3k and Armstrong. Dog Loop and Farm were groomed yesterday for probably the last time until we get some more snow. There are thin spots so be aware and watch for rocks, grass and pavement. Conditions will be good on the 3k and Armstrong with the good surface and shallow classic track. Skiing will be best from about 9:30 until about 2 due to the cold snow temperatures overnight.

Skating will be good until mid-afternoon today then we strongly recommend changing to classic skiing after 2 pm in order to help protect and maintain the trails and prevent ruts from skating. We’ll see blue sky and sunshine all day. Expect spring-like mixed conditions with soft melting surface in the sun and glazed in the shade. Keep your eyes forward and watch where you are going.
Wax will be blue/violet early then skin skis for kick and violet/red for glide over the day. We’ll see the snow transform quickly today so make sure you’re waxed and have some structure on your bases to release the water surface tension. Be aware of icy patches in the parking lot and walkways. Walk with care in your ski boots and use the handrail on the stairs. We can wax or structure your skis and upgrade your gear as needed.
No walking, dogs, running, cycling, driving or trespassing on the trails. When you need to take a physical and/or mental therapy getaway or a break from the news cycle we’re here for you every day. It will be a great afternoon to drop off your skis for a relaxing wax massage so they’ll be ready for more spring skiing. Put on your sunglasses, touch up your sunscreen, snug those laces and head outside today! Stay hydrated, soak up Joy and sunshine out on the trails, look out for signs of too early spring, ski safe and be kind. Still considering swimwear and pond skimming next week. Thank you for being part of our amazing community and reading this far into this cautiously optimistic trail report. Go for a ski and then drop in the store to say hi and visit for a few minutes. See you on the trails!

Mid-Winter Special – All full ski packages (skis, bindings, boots and poles) are 20% off through the weekend. Pole-a-Palooza is still going on with all poles in the shop 25% off. Remaining kids clothing and gloves 30% off. Get in and gear up now!

Groomed Mill Creek yesterday. Conditions are variable throughout the day and elevation on the road. Ranging from firm and icy to soft and slushy.

Good Morning,

It’s a bluebird ski day! The upper trail has been groomed for skate and the classic. Unfortunately, we were only able to groom the 1km loop on the lower trail due melting snow on the trail and the bridges. Cones are set up for caution and we please ask that you abide by them for your safety. The connector trail on holes #18 and #17 is closed until further notice due to wet runoff in certain areas.

All TUNA members receive 20% off day and season passes along with 25% off all merchandise in the Nordic Shop. All skiers can enjoy lunch in the dining room with a 10% discount when they show their pass. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Mountain Dell

Brian and Don groomed for skate on Main and Lollitop. The snow was firm and icy, but should skate ok until about noon or so. We left the classic tracks as they were and they will be ice until the snow softens up this afternoon. Do watch out for increasing open patches where grass or pavement is showing through. Unfortunately, this might be the last day this season at Mtn Dell

Carpe Ski-em! We can’t control the weather but the next two days should be quite good. The temperatures are looking a little challenging for the next several days, but we’re making the best lemonade we can by sprinkling fresh grooming on the sour forecast. We are very lightly snowcat grooming the 3k, Armstrong, Dog Loop and Farm this morning. Conditions will be quite good on the 3k and Armstrong with the fresh surface corduroy and shallow classic track. We will update the Farm conditions on our website after the groom. Skiing will be best from about 9:30 and for the rest of the day due to the cold snow. It will be extra spicy and unpleasant on the shortened 5k until midday.
Skating will be good until mid-afternoon today then we strongly recommend changing to classic skiing after 2 pm in order to help protect and maintain the trails and prevent ruts from skating. We are expecting temperatures above freezing again by afternoon. We’ll see blue sky and sunshine all day. Expect spring-like mixed conditions with soft melting surface in the sun and glazed in the shade. Keep your eyes forward and watch where you are going. Prime ski time will be from about 9:30 until 2:30 today as the snow temperature change lags behind the air temperature.

We strongly recommend stopping in the shop BEFORE you head out on the trails when we have these extreme Spring-like conditions. If you head out and assume the conditions, you can be quite surprised. We want you to have a great ski experience every day and we’re doing our best every day to make it happen.

Dragged all of Spruces and Jordan Pines, and rolled all of Spruces. The warm weather has created some heavy, wet snow. Most of our equipment is still currently down.
