White Pine

2 inches of fresh wet snow on top of the trails this morning. All 22km are groomed or being groomed. Skiing should be excellent today, red wax and structure as the day goes on. Bring in your skis and we’ll structure them for ten bucks and send you out to play. Skiing has been so good despite the weather challenges of the last week. The usual thin pots are out there and the tree melt circles are growing so ski with caution as always. Please purchase and display your pass while on the ski trails!

Help us remind walkers, dog owners and fat bikers that the ski trails are for paying skiers…. Lets keep the trails open as long as we can. Its a shame to see so much grooming efforts destroyed by boot prints..

Stay safe and healthy! Mask up while in the shop and at trail heads. The sale starts Sunday for the few items left in the shop. We will be limiting access to the shop, so be prepared to wait in the hall or outside if it is super busy. No complaining, we’re simply trying to stay safe and open.

CAUTION! Mark and Nils are grooming this morning. As of 7 A.M., there is about an inch of new snow, and light snow expected all day, perhaps adding up to another inch or so. In some places on Main (park road) and Lollipop top, the new snow is barely covering small sections of pavement that were bare yesterday. Watch for surface changes (thinner spots) and on your first lap, tread carefully on area where you know the trail travels over pavement. Main, Mitten, Boomerang and Lollipop top groomed for skate, classic on Main. The skiing was very fun yesterday between about 9 A.M. and noon, and should be fun all day today.

We have groomed for skate and set the classic lane on the Upper and Lower Trails this morning. Coverage is still good and trails are holding together. Have a great day!!

Solitude Nordic

Snow finally came! Four inches overnight really has helped bring back the great soft trails here up at solitude. Classic and skate should be great today with the extra loops out to Silver lake being soft in spots. . Keep an eye out for vehicles on the trails. We had a UTV Monday Evening drive over all the trails and conditions yesterday were difficult. Help us Preserve our great trails up at Solitude by keeping good trail etiquette. Snow should be coming tomorrow and Friday to add to our snow from last night, so come on up to the Solitude Nordic Center for some great skiing!

Spruces

Groomed this morning and set classic track. Conditions were a bit icy this morning, track may not be the prettiest of the year. We’ve lost some snow this week as things warmed up. But looks like fresh snow tonight will help out! Have fun, be safe.

White Pine

Variable Conditions might be the best description today. 60+ degrees yesterday, just below freezing and snowing this morning. Ski with caution, we still have full coverage on every trail but the tree rings and traditional spots are thinning and narrowing after a week of crazy heat. All trails are groomed with the snowmobile to rough up the surface, but expect a very very firm track in the morning through midday with just a very light dusting of fresh snow this morning. Maybe some more snow later? Every bit helps, but cooler temperatures are helping more.

Please purchase and display your pass while skiing. Your support is always appreciated and we love to see so many season pass holders out every day! Help us remind Hotel Park CIty guests that there is excellent dog walking, trail walking and sledding available around the area. Not on the White Pine Touring ski track though.. .. If you are skiing the farm, please remember to drop your trail fees in the box if you’re not already wearing your trail pass.

Ski with care and stay healthy! the sale is coming soon… Stay tuned

Posting hours after skiing and not seeing a post. I skied about a half a lap this morning and was happy to see Peter grooming for skate. Entire course groomed, but I’m not sure if classic was set. Reasonable freeze last night. The several feet of snow here will likely outlast skier interest. Nice venue, and will be even more thankful for it after the others melt out.

East Canyon Hwy groomed this morning for skate and classic. The first .75 mile has a few large patches of exposed asphalt, but otherwise is covered with a thin layer of mostly ice. While treacherous when it’s fully frozen in the morning or toward evening, after some warming, this ice softens up enough on top to get an edge. If you persevere, you’ll find that conditions improve considerably after that. Usable classic — at the time of grooming — began about one mile up and continues to the top.

We’d have a pond skimming contest, but the ponds are drained for the water treatment plant project… Skiing has been exceptionally good despite the heat. Everything groomed this morning, 5k, 3k, Armstrong, Connector and Farm. Good skating early with red wax and STRUCTURE, classic should be great later as things get softer in the wind. Skin skis might be your best bet unless you want to get those klister skis out.

Please purchase and display your pass while skiing. Yesterday we had an employee physically and verbally assaulted by a (now former) season pass holder while out checking passes on the 3k. This is not acceptable behavior. The person was a Park City resident… The White Pine ski trails are for paying customers and part of that legal agreement is that you display your pass and act appropriately while on the trails. Things were calmer after the police left, but really people? It’s just skiing…. settle down. We’ve worked so hard this year to keep the trails and the Nordic Center open. It’s very demoralizing to the staff to be attacked for doing their jobs so you can come out and play.

Please encourage walkers and dog owners to visit Round Valley or the Basin Trails. The post hole problem is real in these soft conditions and makes for difficult grooming and less than ideal conditions for skiers.

Remain calm, its just skiing. Stay safe and see you out on the trails! (with your passes please)

Solitude Nordic

Very good conditions at SNC this morning. I’d estimate we have 85% fine untransformed snow and 15% granular. As the other venues melt out, we’d love to see you up here. All trails groomed for skate and classic.
