White Pine

Happy Boxing Day from all of us at White Pine Touring Nordic Center. We will be open from 9am to 5pm today.

CLOCKWISE SKIING TODAY ON THE 3km “Community Loop”. THIS MEANS GOING TO THE LEFT AS YOU ENTER THE TRAIL. We have changed to directional travel to reduce potential conflicts on the narrow sections of trail. Please ski with Joy, kindness and make room for everyone. A light cover of snow on the trails this morning and until mid-morning today. The track surface should be quite nice today but remember it is a firm and icy track under the fresh snow. Skiing will be a bit softer on the trail as the day progresses. Expect a slower wintery surface to start the day with your blue wax glide. Fresh light groom this morning, but as much as we can, we’ll let the fresh sit on top in order to build snow depth. Best skiing will be with your family and friends all day today.

The 5 km “Pond Loop” remains closed, but we’ll be working to get it open soon if the forecast holds. Be very aware of thin spots and cart paths and big surface gaps. The 5km side is only for the intrepid and rock skis. You risk injury going out on the closed trail. You must have a trail pass purchased and displayed to access our trails. Everyone please ski clockwise and share the trail with Joy and good spirits as you burn off that extra cookie. Smile, greet the hardworking staff and your fellow skiers and keep an eye out for snow bunnies. Thank you for being part of our amazing community! Ski safe and enjoy the day!

We have a couple of spaces left in our Monday women’s skate clinic starting next week. You can book online or give us a call at the Nordic Center.

Lake Flat loops groomed for skate and classic. Only the lake loops are open due to limited snow. We’re expecting heavy snow over the next few days, and it’s already snowing steadily. Early today will be your best bet.

Merry Christmas, and it has been a white one with morning snow. The track has suffered a bit the last few days with warmer temps and dry weather. Today, Thursday and Friday should help resurrect the track but there were enough bare stretches we’ll need a good amount to try to groom again. Sounds like Mountain Dell. I’ll update as snow arrives the next couple days.

We are closely watching the storm cycle and will groom as soon as it is possible. A word of caution for those very eager to get at it. On the Christmas Eve course recon, every bit of pavement was completely bare and the majority of the track route was bare grass. It will take at least five inches from this storm cycle for us to produce a track that is safe.

Happy Holidays from all of us at White Pine Touring Nordic Center. We will be open from 10am to 3pm today.

A light dusting of snow on the trails overnight and early today. It’s not a lot, but every flake helps our holiday dreams come true. Mercifully cooler temperatures will keep the track surface quite nice today but remember it is a firm and icy track under the fresh snow. If you like it a little less exciting, skiing will be a bit softer on the trail as the day progresses. Expect a slower wintery surface today with your blue wax glide. Just a touch up groom later in the day as conditions require, but we’ll let the fresh sit on top in order to save snow depth. Best skiing will be with your family and friends from 10:00 to about 2 pm again today.

The 5 km “Pond Loop” remains closed. Be very aware of thin spots and cart paths and big surface gaps if you venture out. The 5km side is only for the intrepid and rock skis. You must have a trail pass purchased and displayed to access our trails. Everyone please ski clockwise and share the trail with happiness, Joy and good spirits as you finish unwrapping your packages, have just one more holiday treat and head outside. Smile, greet the hardworking staff and your fellow skiers and keep an eye out for snow bunnies and patches of grass along the edge. Thank you for being part of our amazing community! Ski safe and enjoy the holiday!

We have changed to directional travel to reduce potential conflicts on the narrow sections of trail. Please ski with kindness and make room for everyone. Extra spicy on the trail this morning after the warm day yesterday and cold night. If you like it a little less exciting, skiing will be a bit softer as the trail warms after 10:30 today. Expect a firm surface all day with your blue wax glide. Just a touch up groom again this morning in order to save snow depth. The surface will be fast this morning and will be softening through the day. Best skiing will be from 10:30 to about 2 pm again today. The clockwise gliding will be quite good today if your skis are waxed and ready. The 5 km “Pond Loop” remains closed. The Lake Flat Loop was freshly groomed this morning. Both skate and classic tracks set on our loop and squiggles inside of the loop. We still have a 40% discount for limited terrain. Great conditions! Come on up and get some skiing in.

Soldier Hollow

About 4k of skiing at soldier hollow with 3k of set classic track. They are close to closing a larger true loop of skiing from pony express down to the sprint loop. Hopefully another cold night or two will do the trick. Great skiing continues, if on less distance than we would like. Could be busy in the 9-11 hour with holiday morning team soho practices. COUNTER CLOCKWISE SKIING TODAY ON THE 3km “Community Loop”. THIS MEANS GOIING TO THE RIGHT AS YOU ENTER THE TRAIL. We have changed to directional travel to reduce potential conflicts on the narrow sections of trail. Please ski with kindness and make room for everyone. We’ve shoveled tons of snow on the 3k loop over the last five days to help us stay open through Christmas. More of that hard work today, so be sure to stop and thank the people who are working to keep you skiing. You could even stop and help for a few minutes to spread the Joyful holiday glow. Just a touch up groom this morning in order to save snow depth. The surface this morning is good and the very short period of cold overnight and the light mist was helpful. The surface will be fast this morning and will be softening through the day. Best skiing will be from 9:30 to about 1 pm again today on red or purple wax. Please ski early if you are able to. The counterclockwise gliding will be quite good today if your skis are waxed and ready. The 5 km “Pond Loop” remains closed. Be very aware of thin spots and cart paths and big surface gaps if you venture out. The 5km side is only for the intrepid and rock skis. The penalty for catching an edge on the cart path is high.

Our shop and trail hours are 9am to 5pm daily. 9-3 Christmas eve and 10-3 Christmas Day.

You must have a trail pass purchased and displayed to access our trails. Everyone please ski counterclockwise and share the trail with happiness, Joy and good spirits. Greet the hardworking staff and your fellow skiers and keep an eye out for the ermine, snow bunnies and patches of grass along the edge. Thank you for being part of our amazing community! Ski safe and enjoy the holiday spirit even if the weather is a little grinchy!

Solitude Nordic

Our Lake Flat trail is groomed for both classic and Skate. Squiggles inside of the loop have been added, but do not have a classic track yet. We are still waiting on more snow to be able to open more terrain. Because of the limited terrain we have a 40% discount on Nordic Trail Tickets and Rentals!

Soldier Hollow

Ski Trail Conditions:  We have a pristine 3k lap made from our artificial snow, starting in the stadium, and going all the way up the lower Hollow, out for a length on Pony Express, and then back down and over the Bridge of Flags to a turnaround point just beyond. We are impeccably groomed for skate and classic, with set track on either side.  We have an additional 1k groomed on natural snow on the shady side of the upper hollow; be careful at the transition point between natural and artificial!

Weather and Conditions: It is currently 27F and clear skies.  NWS is calling for a 30% chance of rain later in the day and a high of 49F.  Snowmaking is ongoing whenever the temperatures are below freezing.  Freezing nights are keeping the snow great in the mornings and low sun angles are keeping it from getting too soft later.
