Mountain Dell

Coverage is extremely thin. Skiing on the Mtn Dell track is strongly discouraged. Damage to skis is very likely on classic, certain on skate. Several people were enjoying striding on kick-around skis off the track on Saturday and Sunday. A worthwhile option for pretty, low-stress outdoor fun. If you do this, please show respect for our golf course hosts by not ducking ropes that protect the greens. Thanks.

Mini snow globe morning! We’re headed for about 2 inches of fresh new snow this morning with shower trailing off by mid-day. 3km “Community Loop” is open with fresh classic track set for most of the way. Another refresh on top of the firm base. The skiing is quite good, almost winter-like. The 5 km “Pond Loop” is still closed for now, but the off-track snow is good and we packed the surface yesterday in anticipation of the storm. Be aware thin spots and cart paths just under fresh layer if you venture out touring. It’s only for the intrepid given the thin conditions and unmarked hazards. Temperatures will be stable, so purple or red glide wax all day. Check your bases and get some fresh wax on for better glide. Hours 9am to 5pm daily. You must have a trail pass purchased and displayed to access our trails. Everyone ski aware, walk carefully to the trail, greet the staff and your fellow skiers. Thank you for being part of the hard but rewarding work that has kept this community resource open for almost 50 years and spread the holiday Joy!

We are open to all with this being the first weekend of day tickets, public rentals, and group lessons. We have a 2k loop of fantastic deep manmade snow suitable for your nicest skis. Come and enjoy great skiing early as it might start snowing later and potentially getting a bit soggy by afternoon. Warm before the storm today. We ended up grooming about 2 inches of creamy fresh snow on top of the trail yesterday. A perfect refresh on top of the firm base. Ski with awareness, the surface of the 3k “Community Loop” is quite solid under the new snow on top. Fingers crossed for even more fresh snow today and tonight. It is too shallow to set classic track, but the skiing is quite good. The 5 km “Pond Loop” is closed but the off-track snow is good and we packed the surface last night in anticipation of the storm. Watch for thin spots and hazards just under fresh layer if you venture out touring. Route finding skills are helpful. Red wax all day. Check your bases and get some fresh wax on. Hours 9am to 5pm daily. You must have a trail pass purchased and displayed to access our trails. Everyone ski aware, walk carefully to the trail, greet your fellow skiers, participate in the hard work that has kept this community resource open for almost 50 years and spread the holiday Joy!

There are a few shovels and scoops on the 3km trail. Enjoy some cross training and toss a couple of scoops of snow on to the thin spots. You’ll be stronger, get great feeling of being part of our wonderful ski community and also help the track last longer. Even a few scoops will fill your heart and your trail with Joy.

We got 2-4″ new snow today – YIPPEE!. The “infield” is groomed for skate and generally in Good condition. Main and Boomerang are groomed for skate and are Good. Mitten and Wiggle Room are skate and Fair. There are areas of very thin snow, especially under trees, so use caution and your stubble-leaf skis for now. Sorry, no classic tracks yet — need a little more snow for that. Cheers!

Spruces

Snow!! A few inches of fresh snow fell up at spruces overnight and it continued to snow fairly heavily through the morning . Both the upper and lower loops were groomed, but don’t expect fresh corduroy as it continues to snow and will likely snow up to a foot through the weekend. Classic track was re-laid along the upper loop as well. The Jordan Pines connector still lacks enough snow to groom, but that will hopefully change by early next week. Expect soft conditions through the weekend until we’re able to groom again, likely Tuesday.

FRESH SNOW! Maybe close to an inch (optimistic 10mm) as of 8 am sheathing the firm surface below. We are going to let it sit for a little while on top of the trail and the couple of icy patches before we pack it down. The surface of the 3k “Community Loop” is quite solid under the new snow. Ski with awareness as the new snow is not that deep yet. Fingers crossed for even more fresh snow in the coming days! It is too shallow to set classic track, but the skiing is quite good. The 5 km “Pond Loop” is closed but the off-track snow is good. Watch for thin spots and hazards just under the creamy fresh layer if you venture out touring. Route finding skills are helpful. It offers wonderful ski, walk on the grass and ski again options. Red wax all day. Check your bases and get some fresh wax on. Surfaces are not deep, so ski with care and caution.

Hours 9am to 5pm daily. You must have a trail pass purchased and displayed to access our trails. Everyone ski aware, walk carefully to the trail, say “Hi” to your fellow skiers, participate in the hard work that has kept the track open and spread the pre-holiday Joy!

Nordic Trail Conditions

Another beautiful sunrise over Park City today. The surface of the 3k “Community Loop” is open and should be very good all day. not as cold overnight means the track will soften slowly today as the temperatures creep up before the storm front. Fingers crossed for some fresh snow. It is too shallow to set classic track, but the skiing is quite good given the amount of snow. We freshened the surface yesterday afternoon and won’t touch it today in anticipation of the chance of a few snowflakes overnight. The 5 km “Pond Loop” is closed but the off track snow is good. Route finding skills are helpful. It has some gaps and is discontinuous but offers wonderful ski, walk on the grass and ski again options. Red wax all day. Check your bases and get some fresh wax on. Surfaces are not deep, so ski with care and caution. Hours 9am to 5pm daily. You must have a trail pass purchased and displayed to access our trails. Everyone ski aware, keep an eye out for bunnies, say “Hi” to your fellow skiers, participate in the hard work that has kept the track open and spread the pre-holiday Joy!

Please be cautious walking to the start of the 3km trail. If you do not know why, just consider the abrasive conditions near the fence.

Another cold and beautiful sunrise over Park City today. Its definitely worth getting up early for. The surface of the 3k “Community Loop” should be very good and firm all day. Very cold overnight means the track will stay pretty cold again today as the temperatures creep up a little. The 3 km “Community Loop” is open and skiing well. It is too shallow to set classic track, but the skiing is quite good given the amount of snow. We’ll be freshening the surface later this afternoon in anticipation of the chance of a few snowflakes overnight.

The 5 km “Pond Loop” is closed but the off track snow is good. Route finding skills are helpful. It has some gaps and is discontinuous but offers wonderful ski, walk on the grass and ski again options. Blue wax all day and its fairly abrasive, so it might be a good time to check our bases and get some fresh wax on. Surfaces are not deep, so ski with care and caution. All other trails are closed and awaiting more snow.

Hours 9am to 5pm daily. You must have a trail pass purchased and displayed to access our trails. Everyone ski aware, smile, say “Hi” to your fellow skiers, admire the hard work that has kept the track open and spread the warm pre-holiday Joy!

Track was regroomed this morning after a lovely cold night. Yesterday’s snow showers were appreciated. Skiing today is phenomenal other than the few thin spots where you must step around bare ground. Grooming this morning included the setting of (drum roll, please) a light classic track. I just skied it and it was great. Cold weather should keep the skiing this good Wednesday. However, be advised your faithful groomer will be leaving for New England on Thursday, back Monday. So no new grooming in that window.

A light dusting last night called for an early grooming today. The Classic track in the upper loop was not reset but is still visible and ready for use! Upper and lower loop were groomed and are looking great for some skiing. Some spots are still lacking enough snow to fully groom and the path to Jordan Pines is still patchy which we will wait for more snow before grooming again.

A very brisk and stunning sunrise today in the mountains. Finally some clouds in the sky but not a lot of flakes to get excited about. We will call it an inch of fresh snow that had ambitions. If we were fishing it would be the one that got away. The surface of the 3k “Community Loop” should be very good with the fresh cover and very firm underneath. A dusting of December Joy on top. Very cold overnight means the track should stay pretty cold again today. The 3 km “Community Loop” is open and skiing well. It is too shallow to set classic track, but the skiing is quite good given the amount of snow. The 5 km “Pond Loop” is closed but the off track snow is good. Route finding skills are helpful. It has some gaps and is discontinuous but offers wonderful ski, walk on the grass and ski again options. Blue wax all day.

Surfaces are not deep, so ski with care and caution. Come in early to purchase or pick up your season pass and check out all the gear and clothing while we have the best selection of the season. Think snow!
