Spruces

42°F at 0900. Spruces trails groomed for skating. Classic will have to wait until after the snow comes in later. Surprisingly good results this morning. It is soft with some bare spots under the trees, but overall, still good skiing.

Thank you again for a great season of fun and adventure on the snow! We’ll be packing up the shop for a few days and then disconnecting everything for the season. If you need to reach us you can call the White Pine Touring Store on Bonanza or reach us through the experts link at whitepinetouring dot com

If you are one of the few who hasn’t picked up your service skis, they’ll be at the Bonanza store after Wednesday 3/30.

Everyone have a great training season and we’ll see you soon!

That’s all folks! The last day of the season. Still skiable in most places, but absolutely mushy. Classic ski pond skimming will begin at 2, beach wear is encouraged. It has been a fantastic season. Thank you one and all for supporting us as we move into our second 50 years! See you out on the trails and back at the Nordic Center in November!

Stay safe.

Solitude Nordic

All trails groomed this morning. 39° at 8am, high of 58°. Skating will be good until it warms up this afternoon. Classic tracks were set, but are thin especially on the lower loops. Beware of rocks, potholes, ice, and other late-season conditions.

reaching for the fork… No freeze, all thaw. The 3k and Armstrong are skiable, but growing gaps on the 3k. All other trails closed and messy. You will have to out and back or walk a little bit. Deepening water features, increasing grass and pavement. Where the skiing is good, it is quite good. Slush and water are fun! We’ll be closing the doors for the season tomorrow afternoon and packing up the shop. It’s been great, but all things must come to an end. Enjoy the heat! SPF100 is the wax of the day, short sleeves and beachwear tomorrow!

Spruces

Groomed Spruces this morning. Still plenty of snow up here, upper loop was very nice. Spring conditions obviously. The North side of the lower loop has pavement showing, and the trail to Jordan Pines has dirt showing so we did not groom those. However, the upper loop was great skiing and plenty of snow. I did take down the interp and trail sign names today.
Have fun!

Deer Hollow Winter Recreation Area

Todays warm temps made for good grooming conditions. The Big Cat was able to lay some good corduroy and tracks. All of the XC Trails were groomed with the big SnoCat Groomer, and tracks were set on most.
Snowshoe trails were groomed with the BearCat snowmobile and small YTS Groomer.
The Deer Hollow snow pack is a settled 3 to 3.5 ft., making good backcountry/off-trail conditions. These beautiful spring conditions, won’t last long, so get out and enjoy!
Todays Groomers were Jess H. (FS) & Volunteers: Steve, Topher, Chris, & Jim.

Spring conditions are here! A light freeze overnight has made the track fast and scabby. Please be cautious if you’re planning on skiing this morning! Classic tracks are variable, consider skating as the best option. Currently 38 F and sunny at 8:30. Melt beginning in about an hour. High reaching mid 50’s this afternoon. Bring your sunscreen!

ever nearer…. It froze just enough last night to make an ice rink. The 3k is getting a fresh groom to go with the classic tracks set late yesterday. Expect a lot of melting and running water as the day heats up. Skiing was pretty good yesterday until early afternoon. Surprisingly good given the temperatures. Places are getting thin so ski with caution and awareness. Probably 10 am will start the sweetness of spring skiing. Very spicy before then so be careful. In fact, be careful all day. End your season on a positive note. Thank you everyone for your support in the crazy season. Drop in, say Hi, get your storage wax done.
