Soldier Hollow

Public Opening Today! We are now selling day passes, rentals, and lessons. The weather equals the song lyric “when the morning light comes shining in, get up and do it again…” Cold and dry in the morning, warmer and creamier in the afternoon. 1k of impeccable manmade grooming and 4-5k of tolerable thin natural snow. The manmade count should expand as the snowmaking efforts are going well with the cold nights. Also 4-5k of natural snow on upper hollow, spin n grin, and first 1k of roller coaster. You will hit grass but can avoid mud and rocks. Please avoid going on the natural after 12pm. Unfortunately there is too much exposed ground and mud for snowshoeing right now. Think snow.

Another sunny and joy filled ski day on tap! The holiday season is here so let’s use kind and patient words out there on the roads and the trails. We are open 9-5 daily with 10km of skiing. Moderate temperatures and sunny today after a another cold night. Skating will fast early. Classic better a bit later after the sun hits the trail a bit. Blue wax early, red wax conditions later. Forecast says it will get above freezing in the afternoon. Late day skiing might be a bit soft but it stayed fast and firm yesterday despite sun most of the day. Remember to ride the bus, micro transit, carpool or walk if you can. Parking is available all around the hotel and underground but everything you can do to reduce single driver trips helps! We’ve groomed the 3k, 5k and Armstrong for skating and classic. The dog loop is not as open-ish. Give the gift of glide this holiday season. Wax cards and all of the waxes from basic to super fast are in the shop. If your skis are slow it’s definitely time to wax. Go play in the snow, spread the Joy! The shop is open so come pick up your pass and check out all the amazing new gear and clothing.

Thank the groomers for keeping this trail so amazing! Lou, Roch and Matias have been giving everything the lightest possible touch to maintain the snow. Julian and Matias spent a lot of time shoveling snow on to the thin spots yesterday to help keep the skiing as pristine as possible. It’s a ton of work, but we’re doing it every day for you.

You may notice the new fence line on the 3km trailhead. Please do not put gear or clothing on the neighbor’s fence. Come in and ask if you want to know more.

Soldier Hollow

Last day of preseason skiing for season passholders! Public opening tomorrow with lessons and rentals and day tickets. A bit of extra manmade flattened out in the hollow last night. Still about 1k of groomed manmade with classic track. No recent intel on the natural but if you venture there rock skis and a sense of adventure recommended as well as trying the upper hollow and spin n grin first. Lots of snow guns laying down more base as I type; let the cold nights continue if we can’t have snow from heaven for a bit.

Another sunny and joyful ski day! Let’s try to use kind and patient words out there on the roads and the trails. We are open 9-5 daily with 10km of skiing. Moderate temperatures and sunny today after a very cold night. Skating will fast early. Classic better a bit later after the sun hits the trail a bit. Blue wax early, red wax conditions later. Forecast says it will get just above freezing in the afternoon. Late day skiing might be a bit soft but it stayed fast and firm yesterday with the light cloud cover most of the day.

Remember to ride the bus, micro transit, carpool or walk if you can. Parking is available all around the hotel and underground but everything you can do to reduce single driver trips helps! We’ve groomed the 3k, 5k and Armstrong for skating and classic. The dog loop is not as open-ish. The creek diversion has been fixed so it should continue to dry out except for where the spring is running.

Give the gift of glide this holiday season. Wax cards and all the waxes from basic to race are in the shop. If your skis are slow it’s definitely time to wax and structure. Go play in the snow, spread the Joy! The shop/community center is open so come pick up your pass, say hello and check out all the amazing new gear and clothing.

Second to the last day of preseason skiing for season passholders. Lessons, day tickets, rentals, coming on Friday. Manmade snowmaking continues but continued faith and devotion to the snow bringing force of your choice is still encouraged. One k of manmade groomed snow with classic track and thin conditions on another 4-6k of natural snow. Pleasant temperatures with a low sun angle means comfy dress and a good cold snow surface to ski on and build your endurance for the upcoming race season.

Mountain Dell

Mountain Dell grooming is on hold. Five hours of 40+ degrees yesterday exposed our very thin coverage, and by the end of the day no loop was fully covered. Skiing will be terrible. We will continue to watch for snow, and will get after it as soon as possible.

Soldier Hollow

Conditions should be much like yesterday; that is 1km of well groomed manmade snow with set classic track and varying levels of thin coverage on the rest of the trails. Upper Hollow and Spin n Grin are most likely to have decent skiing. Preseason hours for annual passholders of 830-1200 in effect to preserve coverage during the warmth of the afternoon. Regular public opening for day tickets and rentals will be this Friday the 15th.

Our trails are holding very well! Another joyful ski day on tap! We are open 9-5 daily. Moderate temperatures and cloudy today after a beautiful ski day yesterday. Blue wax early, red wax conditions later. Getting just above freezing in the afternoon. Late day skiing might be a bit soft.

We’re grooming the 3k, 5k and Armstrong for skating and will not reset the very good classic track from yesterday. The dog loop is open-ish. The creek diversion has been fixed so it should continue to dry out. see our WPT trail report for more dog loop details. Skating and Classic will be very good all day but softening late. Come in and shop for wax and new gear. If your skis are sticking its definitely time to wax. Go play in the snow, spread the Joy and be kind to each other out there. The shop is open so come pick up your pass and check out all the amazing new gear and clothing before the holiday crush.

Groomed for skate and classic to the first switchback this evening. The first mile or so is thin but firm. Don’t go Klaebo on it and you’re unlikely to hit pavement, with one exception: The usual thin area on a slight crown several hundred yards from the gate is super-thin and has a limited area of asphalt showing. Caution here will reward you with good skiing up the hill. It’s hard and fast to the restroom. We groomed from there to the first switchback for the first time this evening and it was a soft mess. After several passes it seem surprisingly firm. A couple classic skiers said it was supportive for pole planting and good to go. So go in the morning before it gets buggered up in the various ways that make us sad.

Fresh skate and classic from gate to bathroom, 1.5 miles up. A few thin spots in skate lane in the first 500 meters. Will be good after work Monday. Enjoy!
