White Pine

0 degrees F on the trails before sunrise this morning. We’re looking at a bright sunny day with temperatures rising with the midday sun. There’s no way the tulips are even thinking of poking up yet. Cold snow and fresh corduroy on top will make a great combination for your ski day. We regroomed the 3km and 5km trails last night with our new snowcat and left the rest since they were groomed Saturday afternoon. All 22km of trails are open for skiing today. Enjoy a warm mug before you head out with your boot covers, mittens, beanie and buff. We have miles of fresh classic track and skate lanes this morning with a squeaky surface to start your day. You’ll glide best with green wax early, then blue wax and iron-in cold powder again today. Grip wax will be polar early, then green today with slightly warming air temperatures in the afternoon. The dog loop is open and running enthusiastically through the field. Be sure to cover those paws this morning. The Farm is a fee area for skiing. No walking, dogs, running, cycling or trespassing on the trails. Park in the new Meadows Drive trailhead lot or better yet, ski the entire 15km loop from the Nordic Center. Classic skiing will be exceptionally good today and skate will be a slow if you’re not waxed, and getting faster as the day goes on. A good universal liquid or paste wax on your fish scale classic skis (tip to tail) is always a great way to keep them from sticking. Skin skis are a fantastic no-fuss classic option if hard wax isn’t your shot of espresso.
Bring your loved ones, friends and neighbors along to play in the snow and if you need to take a Sundance “physical and/or mental therapy” break we’ve got a trail an and accessible parking for you. Drop off your skis when you’re finished for a rejuvenating overnight spa treatment. Please purchase AND display your trail pass to access our trails. Glide with Joy, share the trails and pole powerfully along the smooth places! Thank you for being part of our amazing ski family and being patient enough to read this far. Grab that beanie, your buff, your good gloves, sunglasses, and snug up your laces. Check your bindings and come play!

A special thank you to Prinoth for delivering a shiny new Husky Snowcat for us to use this winter. If you enjoy what we’re providing, be sure to tell your local city officials how great it is to have such an incredible long-term community partnership between PC and White Pine Touring. We’ve been making trails on the golf course and beyond for 47 years. We’d like that to continue and your support is becoming even more important.

Mountain Dell

Consistently cool temperatures and just a dash of new snow have kept the track at Mountain Dell in quite nice shape. Saturday night’s groom covered all open loops: Main, Mitten, Lollipop, Boomerang, and Bypass. All groomed for skate and classic (except Mitten, which is just skate at the moment).

A very light dusting of snow overnight. Rolled and groomed all of the Spruces Upper Loop, Spruces Lower Loop and Jordan Pines. We are still working on getting the ginzu groomer up and running, so still no classic track as of now. It’s a great day to get out there. Sushi Scale: Shrimp Tempura Roll
