Solitude Nordic

Good morning. At 0800 it is 22°F with moderate to heavy snow falling. 4″ new snow overnight with more expected throughout the day. Lake Flats groomed for skate and classic, but tracks will accumulate snow quickly. Redman Loops are not groomed, but skiable with user defined classic tracks.

Soldier Hollow

We really really hope that this is the last day of having snow conditions resembling closing day not long after opening day. But have hope all ye despairing nordic skiers for we have enough manmade snow to satiate the die hards and a practice area to teach new skiers. It is thick enough for nice skis (though a bit dirty due to the recent winds and lack of refreshment) and was groomed for skate and classic today. The increasingly familiar 1.5k “loop” can be lapped the proper number of times to burn off whatever you ate for Christmas dinner yesterday. Highs will be in the 40s with rain increasingly likely by afternoon so come and get some early. Please exercise the faith or superstition or both of your choice to convince the coming storm to send some solid state precipitation.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good ski! Santa came last night and brought the gift of fresh grooming on the Lake Loop. It’s not much but at least it’s not coal!
Rudolph’s red nose was not able to guide us through the Redman loops, but they are still open for backcountry-style classic skiing.
50% off trail passes and rentals today. Fingers crossed for a snowy Boxing Day!

Yet more Sepcember weather prevails with another morning of above freezing temperatures. Despite that, our manmade set up ok due to some clearer skies and the usual short track has been immaculately groomed for skate and classic and depths are still good for your best skis. With a high of 55 and chance of rain starting midday, the earlier the better should be a good strategy today. A morning ski workout should carve room in your tummy for wonderful Christmas Eve food!

Sepcember continues with almost extraordinary warmth! (insert emojis of choice here). Our manmade 1.5k “loop” is still holding up good enough for nice skis and was groomed for skate and classic today. Conditions are firm and relatively fast wet snow and a temperature of 46F right now at 830 but depending on when you come and amount of traffic, we see it could vary down to mashed potatoes with a forecast high of 60F (more fertile ground for emojis of choice). But hey, skiing should be better than no skiing. I suppose if you have a pair of roller skis you could perhaps draw straws (or do the snow/roller double). Even the rare snow and water ski on the same day almost feels doable.

Solitude Nordic

Lake Flat and Redman Loops are open. Redman loops have not been groomed in over a week, classic is recommended. Lake Flat was groomed yesterday for Classic and Skate. Come on up and check it out! 50% off rentals and tickets through December 25th.

More bizarre very unseasonable weather, but we keep on keeping on with our 1.5 km of well groomed artificial snow in a loop from the stadium up the Hollow to Pony Express Junction. We will again have a junior ski race from 1-3 pm so highly recommend doing your ski before or after that. Come get last minute gifts while you watch the youngsters punish themselves up and down!

Welcome to the first day of Winter! 52 degrees just before sunrise… The shop is OPEN 9-5 today.
We never thought we’d be living the plot of “White Christmas” this season but unfortunately it looks more like “Wet Christmas” this year. None of our ski trails are currently open and the forecast for the next several days is good for visiting friends and family, feasting, gift giving, coffee drinking and not so good for skiing.
